Well here's the article, so you can judge for yourself: "The smallest words in our vocabulary often reveal the most about us, including our levels of honesty and thinking style". It's written by James W. Pennebaker, chair of the department of psychology at the University of Texas at Austin.

QI have finally got to 4000. They seem to be offering three facts per number now.

We've certainly got some catching up to do, then.

From the main thread:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I was waiting for 2831 hours to elapse from the time of the previous post. There were less than 17 hours to go! :(

That's unlucky!

Bad luck! Were you going to claim "2831 bells"? :)

Have I just been the first person to do two numbers in the same post?

I'm afraid not! I covered 997 and 998 in this post. (I wasn't intending to, but tractakid was determined to rush on with 999...)

Ah, so you did. My memory gets a bit faded after 7 years! Can't believe how long this has been going!

Well, it is the ultimate Never-Ending Game :)

(Incidentally, QI got as far as 6267 just over a year ago, but seems to have given up.)

EDIT: I spoke too soon! They've just started again.

Just popping in to say that the QI game has now passed 9000, and may well hit 10,000 by Christmas. (I post over there as "Brock".)

http://old.qi.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=17100&start=9420

If any Tube Challengers want to join in and help us get there, you're more than welcome. I've been in touch with the QI Elves to see if they can use any of the material, and although it doesn't fit in with any of their current projects, they say they'll certainly bear in it mind. I'm hoping I can persuade them to bring out "QI's Big Book of Numbers" at some point. (Even if only 10% of the material is usable, that's 1000 facts - comparable with any of their existing books!)
