Perhaps you'd like to buy this Style 1841 Rabbit Ear Tag from the National Band & Tag Company.

[I know we're not doing "chains" any more, but I couldn't resist.]

If you're got a few million to spare (although they seem to be rather coy about the actual price), you might consider purchasing Head Road 1843, a luxury property in Cape Town, South Africa. (I have yet to discover what the "1843" refers to - its address is 21 Head Road, and it was built in 2011.)

When written in base 48, the decimal number 1844 is equal to the sum of its digits squared, and is the largest such number in that base.

38*48 + 20*1 = 1844
38*38 + 20*20 = 1844

I can't match that, so I'll just have to go back to alcohol with Fuller's 1845 rich and fruity bottled ale.

The planet Neptune was discovered on 23 September 1846.

It wasn't until nearly 165 years later, on 12 July 2011, that it completed its first orbit of the Sun since discovery.

(More alcohol next? Probably.)

Not sure what you're referring to, although alcohol is certainly served at 1847, an independent vegetarian bistro in Manchester (now also in Birmingham). It was named after the year the Vegetarian Society was formed.

The Factory Act of 1850 put right some of the wrongs of the Act from six years earlier.

I'm so used to thinking of Crystal Palace as part of south London that it's easy to forget the original Crystal Palace, built in Hyde Park for the Great Exhibition of 1851.

Here are the map and results for the 1852 US Presidential election, won by Franklin Pierce.

Interesting things:
Three candidates.
Geographically isolated California, which had only joined the Union in September 1850.
The voting system in South Carolina.

The Republican Party in the US was founded in 1854 by anti-slavery activists and members of the Whig Party.

Despite often being referred to as the Grand Old Party (or GOP), the Republican Party is not as old as the Democratic Party, which was founded around 1828.
