Telford

I too was beginning to wonder if there should be some sort of goal in this game, else we could be here forever.

Points for word length? Deductions for repetitions?

How about we only have certain "categories", such as countries or capital cities or something in each game, and the idea is to get round as many of them as we can (with or without repetitions, but see below), aiming to "win" by getting to the last one. Now, obviously it may not be possible to get them all due to the way the previous answers have panned out.

For example, consider this set of countries:

Germany
Yemen
Nepal
Nigeria
Algeria
Albania

Now if these were the only countries allowed, and if we were to play in the order above from Germany onwards, we'd be in trouble after Nepal, because there is no country beginning with L in our list. But if we ignore Nepal and jump from Yemen to Nigeria, then we can get all the way down to Albania, but then you miss out Nepal.

I suspect that the same thing will crop up if a full set of world countries is used - we'll end up not being able to play some of them. So perhaps the idea of the game is to be the person who plays a country that CANNOT be followed by any remaining unplayed country (which means that we'd have to have a "no repetitions" rule to stop never-ending games). It might also work nicely if people played in turns, but then you have to have to laborious process of waiting for people to sign up to play each game.

So that's my first crazy idea anyway ...
