We'll see. I notice how there are now a lot more claims of "1 bell" during the daytime hours, with the claims for weed being more prevalent in the evening. This implies that people are not spending all day watching the game thread for weed postings.

So yes, the game is slowly levelling out.

OK, the scores for last week (week 9) are in, and the spreadsheet can be found here:

https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreads ... c&hl=en_US

Once again you can guess who the biggest loser is, but this week she was run close by Going Underground, who scored just 80 points fewer than her. The Raven, who had been making ground on Sam in previous weeks didn't claim all week until Sunday, when his first claim for 75 points was ruined by then claiming for 90 points one minute too early. This gives him a somewhat pathetic -15 for the week. He remains safe in second place though, about 2500 ahead of scrxisi who, one suspects, can't be arsed with the huge waste of time (literally) that is this game.

Garion, mullardo and Going Underground all move up a place, nudging Soup Dragon down three places, despite his 170 points. Tubeguru takes back a position from Tangy, who only claimed 150 points all week. Starkey's 115 points (unheard of for him) moves him ever closer to the dizzying heights of 16th position overall.

Total points scored this week: 9860.

Carry on.

Oh scrxisi does care... He got quite annoyed when he logged on 1 minute too late and missed out on a bell... And I said my score would start slowing down!

What was the cut-off point for scores in the latest spreadsheet update, Neil?

The last post before midnight on Sunday night. So if someone claims at 21.00 on Sunday night, and the next claim is 02.00 Monday morning then the last claim to be included on the scores is the one from 21.00 on Saturday.

The last claim for points before midnight on Sunday, British time, was 1 bell by uefacup81 on 21 Aug 2011, 23:17, if I'm not mistaken.

The game started at 20 Jun 2011, 17:32. That means that, up to the last deadline, a time of 62 days, 5 hours and 45 minutes had elapsed. That's 1493 hours and 45 minutes.

The most efficient way of scoring points is by claiming bells at precise one-hour intervals, because of the bonus points. There are 75 points available for each bell, so the perfect overall score at this stage of the game would be 111975 points from bells, plus an extra 45 from weed, making 112020 points in total.

Our actual combined score is 82869 points, meaning that collectively we have scored just under 74% of the available points. That's including the two players with negative scores.

I don't know what that means, but I felt like working it out. I might do it again later to see how it changes.

The time that is "missing" is accounted for by spoilers in the game thread. Is that right?

Spoilers, invalid claims, and in fact, all claims for weed except 45 minutes' worth - because they are reducing the points that can be scored with the bell bonus.

You only need 396 points more than MylesHSG this week to go into 16th place.

OK, ten weeks in and here are the scores thus far:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... c&hl=en_US

For the first time, scrxisi gets the highest overall score for the week, but only just from The Ravan and Sam. Therefore, no real change at the top. uefacup81 and Going Underground are the only movers, with GU going up two places. With Garion going down two, mullardo effectively stays where he is. Starkey failed to make that big push to move up to 16th, so he'll have to keep dreaming for now.

You will notice that mullardo's score is weird. This is due to his crazy claims he made during the week and how I interpreted them. So, here is a list of all the "non-standard" claims he made along with how I judged them:

0.15 weed (loss of 0.15 points - not an integer)
one third weed (loss of 0.33 points as this equates to 0.33 recurring, which is not an integer)
PI weed (loss of 3.14 points, PI being calculated to two decimal places)
Two hundered and ninty three trillion, four hundered and fifty five billion, seven hundered and seventy seven million nine hundered and forty six thousand and thiry one point seven eight nine one three five weed spoiler (spoiler)
Fifty five vveed (spoiler)
3 weed (rounded up to 5) (loss of five points)
9 weed equalisation (loss of nine points)
a weed or two (spoiler)
55 weed more or less (valid claim)
35 weed and then some (valid claim)

Hopefully that explains everything.

Total points scored this week: 9979.38.

I think Mullardo made one post which was along the lines of "x weed :?:" - so no actual words after the weed claim. Did you treat that as valid?

Voilà.

And on another subject: 9978.38 points, eh? The time available was seven days and 41 minutes, or 168 hours and 41 minutes. So the maximum points available were 168 bells and 40 weed, 12640 points. Our combined efficiency was 79%.

Anyone want to make a guess at the to three scorers so far this week, with just over half a day to go?

I'll give you a clue - Starkey isn't one of them, although he did claim his first bell this week. That's right isn't it?
