Re: Tumbleweed - The Rules and Discussion
Claiming a number of weed that is not a multiple of five - is the whole claim invalid (thus all the points are deducted and the clock is not reset), or is it only the part above the previous multiple of five that is invalid (thus the rest of the claim is valid, but the extraneous points are deducted and the clock is reset), or is it a spoiler (thus no points are awarded or deducted but the clock is reset)?
I thought the rules were quite straightforward, but in a couple of short days the good members of this forum have come up with half a dozen ways to test them out!

Re: Tumbleweed - The Rules and Discussion
The rule says it must be a multiple of 5. So 71 weed (Garion) is an invalid claim and Garion loses 71 points, not just the extra one he claimed for. The clock is not reset.
If you see what is clearly an invalid claim, look back and work out when the last valid claim or spoiler was played and you can claim from there.

Re: Tumbleweed - The Rules and Discussion
Just a suggestion - could this forum be moved to the main front forum page? I ask for the convenience of those who are not participating in the game, at present we have to go into the Quizzes & Games forum only to see that the unread posts all relate to this subforum, before clicking "Mark all forums as read". Normally this wouldn't bother me, but with the regularity that this forum will undoubtedly get updated, it would be easier for it to be on the main page so that people can "Mark all forums as read" without having to look.

By "main page", do you mean the top level menu of the forum?Steeevooo wrote:Just a suggestion - could this forum be moved to the main front forum page? Re: Tumbleweed - The Rules and Discussion
If that's the techy way of saying "The page that contains the forum listing such as "Quizzes & Games", "Off Topic", "Tube Challenge" etc", then yes

Re: Tumbleweed - The Rules and Discussion
I can see both sides of this. Why can't you just come into Quizzes, look at the stuff you do want, and then hit "mark all posts read"?

Re: Tumbleweed - The Rules and Discussion
That's what I am doing at the moment - my point being that the Tumbleweed thread is obviously going to continually have new posts in it, hence the Quizzes forum is continually going to be showing new posts, when in actuality for the most part, it is only the one thread. I too can see that there are both sides to it, hence why it was only a suggestion!

Re: Tumbleweed - The Rules and Discussion
I think you've misunderstood my suggestion Neil - I was suggesting that it becomes a forum in its own right as opposed to a subforum of Quizzes & Games, i.e. it is a forum at the same level in the forum hierarchy as "Quizzes & Games", "Off Topic", "Tube Challenge" etc.

Re: Tumbleweed - The Rules and Discussion
OK, I've moved it to its own little section.
Bear in mind, that if you so much as make ONE post in the game thread, I'll move it all back to the Quizzes and Games thread ...

Re: Tumbleweed - The Rules and Discussion
Incidentally, on the BBS where I borrowed this game from, the overall scores have been maintained every day since August 2001 - almost ten years. The highest score is currently 921804 (there are a couple of anomalies which allow non-multiples of 5).
We've got a way to go yet ...
