First small issue - I've just realised that the forum clock is an hour slower than my computer's clock. Dang!

Just checked. The forum clock is currently running on BST.

Goto:
User Control panel > Board Preferences > Summer Time/DST is in effect

It should be set to:
Yes

The timezone above should be set to UTC.

If both of these are set as noted above then you will see the accurate BST times.

Naturally, this does not apply if you are abroad.

With regard to the second point here, I see what you're saying. In the original game, the accepted procedure was to write the number of POINTS you were claiming, followed by the word "weed". This was due to the automatic script that calculated the scores getting itself in difficulty if it had to do the sums.

Therefore, we will do that here - so if you are claiming for 25 minutes of weeds, you would put "25 weed". So the simple procedure is "claim for the same number of weed as you are minutes (in multiples of five of course).

When claiming bells, no such problems exist.

By the way, I should point out an anomaly with the rules I just thought of - the rule about the forum being down and only allowing 24 hours' worth of claims when it comes back. If the game is IDLE for over 24 hours, you may claim for the FULL time passed. So if no one posts for a week, you can claim SEVEN days of bells (you do the maths). The existing rule only exists for forum downtime.

I should also add that there is nothing stopping someone from claiming FEWER points than they are entitled to.

So if the game has been idle for an hour, a player can still claim "5 weed" and reset the clock. It's MORE points than you are entitled to that you can't claim.

Is it acceptable to make a claim and then write something else underneath it in the same post? I'm assuming it is, and that it wouldn't count as a spoiler. For example:
45 weed

By the way, this game is a lot of fun.

Interesting question. I think that would count as a er, well. Invalid claim? Spoiler?

Not sure - let's say it will count as a spoiler, and that claims must consist of only the number and "weed(s)" or "bell(s)".

I just noticed something else.

At 11.12 today (21st of June), jamesthegill and uefacup81 both made a claim for points. JTG claimed two bells, and uefacup81 claimed one bell. The previous valid claim was The Raven's 35 weed at 09.15 (greatkingrat's 90 weed at 10.12 was an invalid claim).

jamesthegill was therefore three minutes too early in claiming two bells, and uefacup81 was correct in claiming one. As both claims were made at the same time, the rule must be that:

if two or more claims are made at the same time, the first valid claim will get the points. The remaining claims will count as spoilers, even if they are invalid claims. The clock will be reset. If the first claim is invalid, the person who claimed it will lose the points they claimed, and the next valid claim in time order will get the points. Any successive claims for the same time will count as spoilers and the clock will be reset.

greatkingrat - did you make a mistake when claiming 90 weed? Is it to do with the discussion we had earlier about what the number actually represents?

It was more a case of me forgetting to click onto page 2 and not seeing The Raven's claim at all :D

I've only just enabled the right sodding timezone on my account, so that will probably explain my errant claims from before.

Any more, I'm blaming on alcohol.

OK cool.

The number of weed you are claiming is THE NUMBER OF MINUTES YOU ARE CLAIMING FOR.

So 5 minutes is 5 weed. 35 minutes is 35 weed. Two hours (120 minutes), is 120 weed, should you choose not to claim bells for some weird reason.

I hope that clears it up for everyone.

OK, I've decided to have a weekly score and an overall score for people.

The first score sheet will be available next Monday (we'll have six days in this first "week" so the next one starts on a Monday at midnight). Scrxisi appears to be taking an early lead with good claims for bells. Others are taking the "collect the chaff points" strategy, and Sam is just trying to spoil it all for everyone.

Also, is the general consensus that I'm not allowed to play?

I don't see why you shouldn't be allowed to play Neil.
