Can someone explain to me again why we have to be secretive about the meetup details on here? Every other challenge has everything posted in full publicly. And the numbers at the annual Z1 have never been unmanageable, and things certainly don't look like improving that drastically...

You have to ask Master Tangy why the secrecy of the meeting place he has announced it though an interesting place at least it be warmer than Shoreditch High Street and they have a few bars around that area.

I'm half-tempted to just put it up here, to maximise participation. Which I'm led to believe was reduced last year. After all, there have been accusations on here of over-secrecy, teasing and cliques ...

P.S. I won't, out of respect to Tangy and his efforts, but I strongly encourage him to change tact

I think it would benefit on the day people to have the station on here to maximise attendance.

It's a bit like making a lower league game all ticket ;)

For those of you that have sent me your Expressions of Interest, you should have recieved a PM detailing the exact meet up point.

For those of you who don't know what thier schedule is yet or are still thinking about attending, here is the details for this years Z1 event:

Timetable:
Meet up time: 1200-1215
Start station draw: 1215
Challenge start time: 1300 (from the station that was drawn out)

These times will be strictly adhered to, please be on time.

Meeting Station/Point:
The meeting point is the area outside the McDonalds at Liverpool Street. For those who don't know, exit onto the National Rail concourse and take the stairs/escalator opposite platforms 2 and 3 up to street level. Alternatively this location is opposite the Old Broad Street entrance to the Underground.

If this area is too busy, then we will be meeting opposite bus stop S on Liverpool Street itself (simply cross over the bus station access road from McDonalds). I will be in some Tube Map related clothing to aid recognition.

After challenge pub:
After the challenge, we will be meeting at the Horse & Groom (128 Great Portland Street) for the results, Zone 1 quiz and of course, some darts. We will be in the upstairs bar.

Register:
Even though I have posted these details it would be very helpful, if you haven't already done so, to send me an Expression of Interest so I know who is attending or not and the numbers involved.

Thanks in advance
Tangy.

I'm thinking whether it might be best in future years to use the R15 generator to draw the start station (only) and announce it on here beforehand and then people just have to get there for a 1300 start (which, in practice, would mean getting there for about 1245). You could continue with the convention of excluding previous years' start stations. (This avoid the possibility of longer-distance travellers having to pay peak-time fares as they then have to arrive later).

I have bad memories of Liverpool Street.

I got searched by the police there for a start!
