I am not a politician now, nor was I a politician at the time of the event in question.

To clarify - The clarification more revolved around whether you could clarify if you were a former politician at the time of the event, or whether you are a former politician now. Your last answer lacks clarity on when your tenure as a politician was.

Your avoidance of the question asked and lack of clarity suggests you definitely ARE a politician!

Well actually I wasn't asked "are you a former politician?", but "are you a politician?" I volunteered some extra information which wasn't part of the strict "yes"/"no" answer, although I didn't have to. So I don't have to answer if I don't want to.

But to clarify: yes I was a former politician at the time (and obviously I'm still one now).
