I think the first-class question has confused us. It may be possible to buy a first class ticket for a particular route but that doesn't necessarily mean that all of the trains between those stations actually have first class accomodation.

Does your train run from Cannon Street to Orpington (or vice versa)?

No, it doesn't.

Last question... shall I reveal the answer after it, or shall I keep you guessing? (assuming you don't get it)

I asked that question because it would instantly split the longer distance class 375s (which have FC seats) from the local Metro 465s (which are second class only), thus effectively halving the possibilities of via stations!

On SET, I know of no line fully within the Oyster zones that has FC seating adviertised in the NRT

Does your train pass through one or the other of the Catford stations?

So, for 21 of 20 - is Cannon Street on the agenda of this service? I guess it must be, but thought I'd confirm, as we're going up to 6,297 questions if necessary... :D

Which leaves two options...

As the afternoon train via the Beckenham curve terminates at CHX it must be the 0903 CST- BKJ.

That would be correct. 23 questions!

I have a couple of thoughts...

Does anyone know which train class operates this service? I couldn't be certain, any source I found simply said EMU, so I had to have a guess at 'no', as the Wikipedia page suggested Hayes line trains are

Class 376 "Electrostar"
Class 465 "Networker"
Class 466 "Networker

As most of them appeared to be the 'networker' variety, and as I wasn't sure whether 376s are considered variants of 375s, I took a guess at 'no'. I wasn't sure whether variants have to have the same number, like in the instance of London Midland's Class 350/1 and 350/2 trains.

How many questions ago was this the only valid train left, do you think? I imagine the difficulty was probably thinking of the train, as some of the questions (such as first class) cut down the numbers significantly, but don't necessarily make it easy to narrow down.

Class 376s are part of the Bombardier "Electrostar" family and are closely related (chassis wise) to thier class 375 sisters, but the differences lie within the coach.

Class 376s are 5 coach second class only trains in a high density "more standee" layout, very much similar to the NLL class 378s (but class 376s do have 2 by 2 seating rather than sideways seats the 378s have).

Class 375s are basically what SN call a class 377, they are virtaully one and the same. There are many sub-classes of 375 (and 377), but the main difference being type 3s (/3xx) are only three coaches whereas the rest are four coaches. All the SET ones have First Class seating so are obviously used on longer distance routes to Kent coastal towns where FC would be useful.

The Networker family of units (class 465/466) are operated throughout SETs suburban network (and some Kent branches). The class 466s are formed of two coaches, the 465s four coaches. All except the /9 sub class are second class only, the 465/9xx units do have small sections of FC are are mainly used on the Maidstone East line.

The Hayes line itself uses a mixture of 376s or 465s (up to 12 coaches) but mainly the latter with 376s concentrated on the lines towards Dartford.

With, I guess, the exception being the train to BKJ?

The floor, as far as I am concerned, is open for the next round.
