Specifically stations, rather than the road itself.

There are currently stations called London Road (Brighton) and London Road (Guildford).

Manchester Piccadilly was formerly called Manchester London Road, Leicester was Leicester London Road and Bicester Village was Bicester London Road.

Carlisle London Road closed in 1863.

Correct, the pantographs come down entering those squares and the tram runs from on-board batteries, which presumably re-charge when the pantograph is raised again. Wikipedia says a third rail was considered, that sounds dangerous to me.

Sections of London's original tram network ran with a central conduit - still visible in the approach to the Kingsway Subway.
