Rare Entries XIV World Cup 2014

Post by TC95 »

This is similar to the Rare Entries quiz for Euro 2012 devised by Root. I have decided to do this as an alternative to the other World Cup competition I was offering [see Off Topic forum].
As it was in 2012, it's a rare entries quiz with a twist. Some of the questions are repeats, some are completely new, all with multiple answers. The difference is that we don't know what the answers are going to be yet. You have to make predictions :) It's up to you to decide how much of a risk to take with your predictions. You could play it safe to make sure most of them are correct, or gamble a little in the hope your answers will be unique to score the lowest points.

The deadline is 20:00 BST on Thursday 12th June 2014. Please send me your answers by PM.

I am participating myself and have already made my predictions.

The questions are below. They all apply to the 2014 FIFA World Cup. I'm saying that now to avoid repeating myself in every question. I reserve the right to deem your answers wrong if you try to find a loophole and base your answers on something other than the World Cup 2014!

1. Name a team who will qualify from their group.
2. Name a team who will reach the quarter-finals.
3. Name a team who will not qualify from their group.
4. Name a team who will score at least three or more goals in any single match.
5. Name a team who will concede at least three goals in any single match.
6. Name a team who will have the tightest defence (i.e. concede the least number of goals) in entire the tournament.
7. Name a team who will score the most number of goals in entire in the tournament.
8. Name a player who will score at least four goals in the tournament.
9. Name a player who will score a goal for England during the tournament. [Does not include goals scored during penalty shoot-outs]
10. Name a round of the tournament in which England will play (options: group stage, round of 16, quarter-final, semi-final, 3rd/4th play play-off, final).

Good luck :)

I assume you are going on the principle that there will be a tie between more than one team for these categories? Otherwise, there can only be one correct answer for each of these, so the question should be, "Name THE team who will ...", and not "Name A team who will ...".

Or did you have something else in mind?

As the World Cup has now started, I assume entries are closed. Could you post up everyone's entry, so we can laugh at them?

If everyone (and particularly TC95) would like I could score this and post results within the next couple of days.

Should I?

My aim always has been, and will be, this weekend - I cannot help it, it has just been a very busy week, this Saturday and Sunday will be my first completely free days since the end of the WC!
