Re: Rare Entries XI - tubes
That is exactly what I was wondering, although I was considering that as my answer for Q10. If it is a colour at all then it would probably be somewhere between dark reddish/brown and grey/black. Although this would depend on how burnt the burnt oak was. Can Oak by itself be classified as a shade of brown, and hence, a colour? I wouldn't have thought you could get away with classifying 'burnt' as an outright colour as you would have different shades of burnt depending on the level of burnt (little to very to completely burnt), and the material which has been burnt.nozzacook wrote:what colour is Burnt Oak?10) Give a station name that includes a colour that does NOT match any of the lines it is on. Which is why I allowed it.nozzacook wrote:Stratford Westbound Central Line Doors open on both sides.I was tempted to disallow Barking and Stratford as they’re at the ends of the H&C and Jubilee lines respectively, but you could argue that they’re also not at the end of a line as well!

btw you can get many shades of a lot of colours (blue for instance) so I don't think that's a reason to exclude it in itself.

For doors both sides, would you have allowed Gloucester Road?
The Piccadilly Line is the only line with no NR stations on it (although this fact does require Waterloo W&C to be the same as Waterloo NR...)

I suspect if it had been your answer, you'd have been arguing vehemently that the question should have been worded more tightly if this sort of answer was to be disallowed.tubeguru wrote:Are you taking the piss with this?Iain wrote:10) ChoRlEywooD – Al
I thought it was going a bit far, but couldn't be bothered to argue the point as Al wasn't anywhere near a "podium finish". Plus I rather liked Tractakid's South Kenton/South Kensington answer on Q7, and I couldn't really argue for that and against the Chorleywood answer which just takes the "separation" strategy to the extreme.

Doesn't it then fail as it's on the northern line which is sort of a burnt oak colour.Iain wrote:Which is why I allowed it.nozzacook wrote:Stratford Westbound Central Line Doors open on both sides.I was tempted to disallow Barking and Stratford as they’re at the ends of the H&C and Jubilee lines respectively, but you could argue that they’re also not at the end of a line as well!
