Rare entries X - November

Can you identify a station from just a paving slab? Sadly, some people can

Rare entries X - November

Post by Rhys1995 »

This is my first entry in the Rare Entries quizzes so please give me feedback whether its good or not :) aaaaaaaaaanyway, after work last night, and a brief conversation with tractakid on Facebook I decided to give this a shot myself, and the theme as you can probably guess, is November...

UPDATED MONDAY 11th, this is the final one hopefully! Haha.

So, here goes!

1. Name me a significant event in UK history which took place AFTER 1950 in November as found on http://www.historic-uk.com?
2. Name me a #11 who has played for Arsenal AFTER 1985?
3. A driver who has finished 11th in a race in the 2013 Formula 1 World Championship after round 15?
4. Name me one tube station between zones 1-3 (this includes stations in 2/3 but NOT 3/4) beginning with N
5. Give me a title of an Xbox 360 or PS3 game with the number '11' in it?
6. Translate 'November' into one and one only of the following languages:
French
German
Italian
Spanish
Dutch
7. A chart topping hit (has to be No. 1) on Vodafone UK Top 40 in November 2012?
8. Name me the start of a postcode in London with 11 in it?
9. Give me a number which contains only the number '1', that has more than 1 '1' in the number, but no more than 6?
10. Name me 1 station within the OLD Circle Line (including stations that lie on the OLD Circle Line) that is on the Victoria Line?

Okay I'll give you all until the 23rd November to send me your answers, contact me by Facebook, PM me on here or even, if you're feeling adventurous, text me!

Have fun... :D

I don't see how some of these questions can work with the Rare Entries format.
1. Name me a significant event in UK history which took place AFTER 1910?
As there's no definitive list of "significant events", anyone could say virtually anything to this. The day I was born was a significant event as far as I'm concerned. (And what's the link with November?)
4. How many words can you make out of the word 'November'?
Do you want people to submit a list of words? If so, it's almost guaranteed that everyone's list will be unique.
Or are you just asking for a number? If so, there are no right or wrong answers.
10. Name me 11 stations within the OLD Circle Line, but not including any stations that are served by the OLD Circle Line?
Same problem as with (4) - if everyone submits a list of 11 then there's a very high probability that it'll be unique. Or have I misunderstood?

What's the point of question 6? I don't see the skill/challenge with that question.

It's not really any different than the "give me a number between 1 and 10" from the last quiz

To be fair this was my first attempt at doing a Rare Entries quiz, of course it isn't going to be perfect.

That looks a lot better, but I still don't understand how you're going to score question 4. Let's suppose the month was "January" and you get three entries:
Player A: jay (1 word)
Player B: ray (1 word)
Player C: jay, ray (2 words)
They've all submitted different lists, so do they all get a single point?

Thanks for pointing that out Guy, I've only just realised that! To answer your question the way I'm scoring it is the most words. Also want to say thank you for pointing out the dodgy questions, I appreciate it :)

You're scoring it by the most words? That's not a rare entries quiz - it's more like a conventional quiz. The object of a rare entries quiz is to try to get an answer given by as few other people as possible. If the question had been "name any word that you can make out of the letters of 'November' ", it would have been OK.
Also want to say thank you for pointing out the dodgy questions, I appreciate it :)
No problem!

True. In retrospect I could have done that. Anyway let's see what you all come out with!

Well in that case you'll have to treat it as two separate quizzes: a rare entries quiz with nine questions, and a separate quiz where you have to list as many words as possible. There doesn't seem to be any obvious way of combining the two scoring systems.
