Isn't that the skill of the game though? I thought the idea was to try to pick an answer so obscure that no one else was likely to think of it. The more time you have to research the answers, the better your chance of doing so.tubeguru wrote:There are no such things as "better" answers with these quizzes. All you are doing is picking a choice that you hope no one else has. And as they're all going to be bluffing and double-bluffing when choosing, there isn't much scope for skill in this.

Re: Rare Entries Quiz VIII: London
The game isn't skilled as such. Imagine you were asked to provide a London Overground Station. You go for Battersea Park because that's not on the Overground map and is such less well known - but as Battersea Park is not on the Overground map and is such less well known everyone picks it! You're best going for something like Wapping.
All London buses: 23 hours 25 minutes (with Adham, David, Josh and Tangy)
Holds some alternative challenge records. Not sure which ones.

Re: Rare Entries Quiz VIII: London
Well, that's assuming that all the other competitors know about Battersea Park. As people on this forum are likely to be highly knowledgeable about that particular subject there's a good chance that they will, but I'd have thought that on most subjects it would be possible to outwit the other players by picking an answer they hadn't thought of.The Orange One wrote:The game isn't skilled as such. If that's not the aim, then (as someone commented in the last quiz) the questions might as well all be "pick a random number from 1 to 6".

Re: Rare Entries Quiz VIII: London
That's a fair point - I'm just saying it's not possible all the time, especially on this quiz (any self-respecting Tube Challenger would know a lot about London!), which is something to bear in mind.

Re: Rare Entries Quiz VIII: London
These quizzes work best with a fairly limited choice of correct answers. Yes, there can sometimes be skill in finding a very obscure answer- but unless it's really not obvious, don't count on nobody else noticing it.
I have one fairly obscure answer for this quiz, but I think the question it was for will be a low scoring one anyway with far too many possible answers.

Well if there's as little skill as people suggest, there's even less reason for letting the submission period drag on. Just send in the first list of answers you think of.

Well done tractakid! Entering late has clearly paid off.
Just a query on question 6 - Wikipedia is under the impression that the Greater London Authority has a twinning arrangement with Kuala Lumpur, but I can't find any official list of twin towns on the GLA's site. What's your source?

I maintain that I could have entered within minutes of the quiz starting and still chosen the same answers as him. So long as you know all the possible answers, the "skill" is in the choosing.GuyBarry wrote:Well done tractakid! Entering late has clearly paid off.
