Rare entries quiz VII - Cricket

Post by snudge27 »

Given that the cricket season is once again upon us, with the excitement of the first Ashes test at Trent Bridge a mere 47 days away, I thought I'd test your knowledge of all things cricket... Usual rules apply, and all questions refer to Mens' First Class Cricket unless stated otherwise.

Closing date/time 2000hrs on Monday 10th June

1. Name a venue that has hosted a test match during an Ashes series hosted in England.

2. Name a venue that has hosted a test match during an Ashes series hosted in Australia.

3. Name one of the ten ways of getting 'out' in cricket.

4. Name a team which competed in the 2013 Indian Premier League.

5. Name an England test cricketer who has won 100+ caps as of 24th May 2013.

6. Name a national side with ICC test status.

7. Name a player who has captained England to an Ashes series victory since 1980.

8. Name a team playing in Division One in the 2013 LV= County Championship.

9. Name a team which has appeared in the final of the Twenty20 World Championship.

10. Name a team without current test status that has appeared at the Cricket World Cup.

Only two entries so far... I'm most disappointed in you all!

As it stands there's no real point in closing the quiz just yet, as the two entrants will be tied on equal points. So I'm extending the closing date indefinitely at this point until I get some more entries in!

You don't need to know anything about cricket, you just need to know how to find the answers and pick the 'rare' ones!

I shall enter later this evening after I've had a quick barbecue for dinner. Honest.

We aren't even close to the original closing date, yet. I usually do things last minute.

Well, I've given it a go, though I know as much about cricket as I do about Gryllidae.

Um. I didn't come last?

:/

With the Northants answer- the only thing I can think of is sticking with football tradition in which Division One isn't the top division. But I entered this so long ago I can't remember what I was thinking.

Yay, I have now spammed 2000 posts onto the board. Go me.
