Surely, no matter how good or bad the BBC coverage may be, it is still better than no coverage?

That would be true if the BBC both came clean and said they didn't care and if there was no Sky. The BBC half-caring is, well, despicable.

With Raikkonen off for back surgery, it looks like he becomes the first (and possibly only) driver to be replaced for a race this season. Unless someone else is also replaced at Austin, in which case they will both score for that category.

As I've been compiling a list of the penalties incurred by all drivers this season, the final list makes for interesting reading. This must be the longest list of penalties given out ever I reckon. In total, there were 48 penalties - that's an average of 2.4 per driver.

Are the FIA taking things too far with some of these? Do they even work? Will they invent new ones for next season?

Charles Pic (four grid penalties, one ignoring blue flags)
Esteban Gutierrez (three grid penalties, one leaving the track and gaining an advantage, one drive-through)
Jules Bianchi (four grid penalties)
Max Chilton (one gearbox penalty, two drive-through penalties, one ignoring blue flags)
Adrian Sutil (one drive-through penalty, two grid penalties, one pit-lane speeding)
Nico Hulkenberg (two unsafe pit releases, one pit-lane speeding)
Romain Grosjean (one grid penalty, one drive-through penalty, one added time penalty)
Pastor Maldonaldo (one pit-lane speeding, one drive-through penalty, one causing a collision)
Giedo van der Garde (one stop/go penalty, one grid penalty, one drive-through penalty)
Felipe Massa (one grid penalty, one gearbox penalty, one drive-through penalty)
Kimi Raikkonen (one grid penalty, one DSQ from qualifying)
Sergio Perez (one forcing another driver off the track, one gearbox penalty)
Mark Webber (two grid penalties, one of which was for earning three reprimands in one season)
Lewis Hamilton (one grid penalty, one drive-through penalty)
Paul di Resta (one DSQ from qualifying)
Jenson Button (one overtaking under red flags)
Jean-Eric Vergne (one added-time penalty)
