Red Bull appear to have a "hole" in an area on their car where a hole is not allowed. When questioned, Christian Horner denied that it was illegal, claimed that Red Bull would not be changing it, and then said, without a hint of irony, that the car wouldn't be legal if it hadn't passed scrutineering.
Er, hang on. Is this the same Christian Horner who earlier in the season insisted that the Mercedes W-Duct was illegal despite the car passing scrutineering at three successive races before he gave it up?
I do hope Mercedes protest the Red Bull car after the race.

I've calculated the scores using the provisional results. If that protest is successful, I'll have to update the scores, but thankfully that's not nearly as much hassle as it was last year.
Hopeful traveller won the round with 122 points. He's now just eight points behind Garion overall. The mean continued to stay low, at 88 points. Another race, another different winner... my usual method of making predictions is proving useless this season.
Two weeks until the next round now, which is the Canadian Grand Prix, one of my favourites.
Out of interest, given the closeness of this year's championship, I did a quick spreadsheet exercise to see what the championship would look like under previous scoring systems. Here are the results:
1950-1959 (8-6-4-3-2 plus a point for fastest lap)
So as you can see, it's only the introduction of the current scoring system that has split the top three drivers on points scored. In every other season before 2010 the top three would only be split by the number of wins and podiums. I shall keep the spreadsheet going as the season goes on, and see who would have won the championship in previous seasons.
NOTE - this is not as easy as it sounds, because up to 1981 ( and from 1985 to 1990 inclusive) a different number of "best scores" counted towards the championship each year! Why they didn't just use them all is a mystery. Maybe someone can provide an answer to that one.

Irvine would have won in 1999 under the current system (and indeed, the previous one), and Hill would have won in 1994. Those are the most notable differences.

The problem with applying scoring systems to different eras is that drivers would have adopted different strategies, so the results would not have been the same. It's an interesting exercise though, with that caveat.
Anyway, back to the 2012 season, where we now have seven different winners in as many races. The same does not apply to our predictions competition, however, as The Raven picks up his second of the season. Garion stays top. The average crept above the 100-point mark for the first time since Australia. I thought we saw the best race of the season so far today, with DRS the only negative aspect; what do you all think?
It's another two weeks until the next round, which is (yawn) the European Grand Prix in Valencia.
And at the time of writing (see timestamp), the Brundle car is currently running 16th overall, 34 laps behind the lead Audi. It is in eighth place in its class.
