I'm a slave to the rhythm.

Presumably you don't drive across that many foot crossings though!

There have been several incidence at this foot crossing I surprised it has not been closed as it is less than 200m from a level crossing. I have used the foot crosing several timesI always check the position of the level crossing gates before crossing. On the use of the horn Most drivers only use one tone.

Most drivers would agree that two tones is probably better, but as with most things on the railway, if the rulebook says, "Use the low loud tone at whistle boards", then most drivers are going to do just that. They know that if they kill someone, so long as the download shows them sounding the low loud tone, they are in the clear.

If a manager said to me, "You used both tones at that whistle board", I would say,"That's right, but I used the low loud. Nothing says I can't use the high loud too."

And just to prove it:

http://www.rgsonline.co.uk/Rule_Book/Ru ... ss%208.pdf

Scroll down to numbered page 42 (section 10.2). It clearly states that the "tone to use when passing a whistle board ..." is the "Low tone - loud setting". It doesn't say you can't use the high tone as well.

Yo, Tangy!

Are we anywhere near another instalment of Railbenders?

Give me a week (until after my holiday in Devon), maybe riding the trains may give me inspiration for more questions. Sorry for the long gaps in between railbender quizzes.

What are these various tones to which you refer?
