Wordsearch 1 [finished]

Post by mullardo »

Below is a wordsearch with a unknown number of tube stations in it. Points will be awarded on the most right answers, however every wrong answer will deduct a point (To stop someone posting a list of all tube stations).

PM Me your answers. Quiz ends next Monday

So how come you count Paddington twice? And why isn't Aldgate allowed if Leyton is allowed?

Wembley Park is also there. Although it involves jumping a few letters and then going back on yourself.

Paddington is counted twice because it is in there twice (representing both paddingtons)

Leyton and Leytonstone are both in the wordsearch uniquely (not sharing the word Leyton) whereas Aldgate would be sharing the word Aldgate. (If someone got Aldgate but not Aldgate East, they would get a 1/2 mark for finding a station)

This was my response to Mullardo...

The answer wanted is probably 24, however, by strething the interpretation of the rules, it could be 26 or even 62 (very stretched).

Below are all names I found in the puzzle (and their origin [row, col]) :

Horizontal/Vertical/Forward: (8)
[6,7]: NORTHWEMBLEY
[13,8]: PADDINGTON
[17,1]: PARKROYAL
[3,9]: RUSSELLSQUARE
[8,13]: TOOTINGBEC
[7,12]: TOWERHILL
[18,1]: VICTORIA
[16,2]: WIMBLEDON

Horizontal/Vertical/Backward: (7)
[14,1]: BARBICAN
[18,15]: BOROUGH
[15,8]: ELMPARK
[13,2]: GANTSHILL
[2,15]: HORNCHURCH
[15,17]: KINGSBURY
[1,6]: LEYTON

Diagonal: (9)
2 [14,2]: ALDGATE
2 [14,2]: ALDGATEEAST
2 [9,1]: CHALKFARM
2 [10,11]: COLINDALE
2 [8,3]: DEBDEN
2 [8,10]: HIGHGATE
2 [17,17]: ICKENHAM
2 [11,3]: LEYTONSTONE
2 [14,3]: MILLHILLEAST

Furthermore, slightly stretched rules, we can find the following by moving one step at a time in all directions: (2)
[7,3]: ANGEL
[15,15]: KENNINGTON

And, having played chess in my past, by also allowing "knight moves" we can actually also find all these stations: (36)
[10,6]: ARSENAL
[6,5]: BANK
[5,6]: DOLLISHILL
[10,12]: EASTACTON
[4,7]: EASTCOTE
[6,11]: EASTHAM
[16,13]: EDGWARE
[4,4]: GRANGEHILL
[2,6]: HANGERLANE
[2,6]: HARLESDEN
[2,2]: HILLINGDON
[2,10]: HOUNSLOWEAST
[5,5]: KENSALGREEN
[5,5]: KENTON
[7,10]: LOUGHTON
[1,16]: MANORHOUSE
[10,10]: MILEEND
[1,16]: MOORGATE
[16,4]: MOORPARK
[3,5]: NEASDEN
[9,15]: NORTHACTON
[1,14]: NORTHOLT
[9,15]: NORTHWOOD
[9,15]: NORTHWOODHILLS
[1,14]: NOTTINGHILLGATE
[9,6]: PINNER
[13,8]: PLAISTOW
[9,6]: PRESTONROAD
[14,9]: REDBRIDGE
[9,2]: SHEPHERDSBUSH
[4,13]: SOUTHGATE
[10,9]: STPAULS
[3,10]: TOTTENHAMHALE
[17,12]: UPMINSTER
[11,7]: WATERLOO
[9,12]: WESTHAM
