Cardiff Overground

Post by Garion »

Does anybody fancy doing the Cardiff Overground?
In other words, travelling on all bus services shown on the overground map and in the shortest time (obviously lol)

how many bus routes does that include? and do you include Night Buses as they can extend further sometimes? I imagine there must be a good 100 or so routes. ..

The map shows 19 different bus routes but it's a bit different compared to the Underground map.
Where as each colour on the Underground map would represent a different line, each colour on the Cardiff map can represent up to 4 different bus routes.
Have a look at the link

And in London there are about five hundred routes! I'm not counting night buses or school buses, because I'm not that crazy. But here's an example:

Cardiff Bus have recently withdrawn the night bus services so be thankful for that!! lol

And of course London would have about 500. It's bloody huge

Doing London must be time consuming and rather tiring! If you ever want a bit of company on that [though I have to say my insanity doesn't stretch to the London bus network] I might be happy for a few bus rides.

If Cardiff Overground involves more than one route for each section do you have to do each bus for each "line" or just complete the stops?

Just the stops I think. It does seem silly going over the same stretch of road on 4 different buses or something.

Cardiff Bus Challenge, I daresay that would be interesting! It would take a long time, and you'd have to be starting early to ensure it's all done!

As for when several routes converge and use the same street(s) for an amount of time/distance, I would count them all done on that section, much like I do with bus routes in the rest of the country. Obviously I'd make sure I did the other routes when they split off.

It's something I'd consider anyway.

Sounds good. I wish you luck for when you do it.

Anyone else interested?
