Whilst not a tube challenge, I will be heading down to Cornwall soonish to travel from Lands End to John O'Groats by bus. I plan to do it in less than four days and beat the unofficial WR of 4 days, 10 hours, 44 minutes, set by someone who might be Tube Geek. Wish me luck!

And good luck, I hope you do it! I don't suppose you're passing a town called Portishead at all, are you?

And when are you going to be doing it?

Haven't found a sub-four day route yet (though I've only had a brief play around so not saying it isn't possible) but 4 days 10 hours is definitely beatable - I've just found a route taking less than 4 days 4 hours (LE-Exeter; Exeter-Hanley; Hanley-Newcastle; Newcastle-Inverness; Inverness-JOG).

I assume by buses that coach services aren't included?

All booked up for Wed 31st Aug to Sat 3rd Sep. Now all I need is for all the buses to depart and arrive at their scheduled times. Unlikely I know.

What do you mean by that? Is it local busses only and not long distance busses that are coaches (megabus and National Express etc.) or what?

Presumably. That is what i would use, but maybe Guinness (is it officially recognized?) have different opinions.

Out of interest, what's the Oxford to Cambridge Stagecoach X5 considered to be?

University Expresss

It is buses only, some are local but some are express. Buses exclude National Express and Megabus but would include the Stagecoach X5, although if you're in Milton Keynes heading between Lands End and John O'Groats, you are lost.
