GWR VIII - Full Network Attempt - Friday 18th April

Post by Soup Dragon »

The Brown-Starkey team will be on the rampage again, attempting to get the GWR for the 269 station configuration on Friday 18th April. We require a stopwatch operator and any offers of support/food drops etc... would be greatly appreciated. Please PM me or Kevin if you would like to help. Many thanks Antony :)

I might be able to help in the evening depending on a new job training I've got going. I also am attempting the 269 on Thursday 9th April seeing as now the Tube strike has been confirmed as cancelled. I'm hoping for some better luck than recent challenges...

I'm up in London on Thursday 10th and currently don't have any fixed plans - I'm quite happy to do a lunchtime food drop if you want as I should be free between 12 and 3 (assuming that I don't need to get up early - if so I could do earlier too) or provide for a brief period.

EDIT: Ooh, I like the feature that shows you new posts have been made while typing out your own.

Yes indeed, more details on that next week as we finalise our plans. Currently she plans to accompany us for the whole day so we will be a team of 6

The main thing we need though is a stopwatch operator, so anyone who is keen to join us at Amersham at 05:28 and wave us on our merry way is more than welcome! :D

Why do I get the feeling I will end up being at Amersham at quarter-past-five on this day...

Actually I've still got a stopwatch of yours which I should have returned ages ago, so I probably owe it to you.

I would certainly do it if there was an easy way for me to transfer it to the stopwatch finisher. Let me know if there is.

Ollie, you should move to Amersham it would make it much easier for you. Perhaps you could purchase a B&B there and offer a special service for the Tube Challenge community, which would include a nice cooked breakfast at around 04:30 and of course starting the stopwatch.
As for the stopwatch you currently have.... yes that's mine. :)

If Ollie doesn't open such a B&B, I will. He's missing a trick there!

Yes indeed, so far this year there have already been 7 attempts at the full network (although not all of these started at Amersham) I think there is a gap in the market to be filled!

Perhaps there is a vacancy for another hotel or B&B in Amersham, but Tube Challenging alone certainly wouldn't be enough to cover its costs.
