Not really...

Leaving at 5:28 gets you to H-o-t-H by 6:55 (most likely) - 1:27 duration
Leaving at 5:56 gets you to H-o-t-H by 7:29 (most likely) - 1:33 duration

so in fact you're 6 minutes better off with the early start. I have not found any other remotely useful Amersham start times...

There doesn't seem to be any useful Chesham start at all.

Indeed...For the "traditional" opener, we have the following times with an Amersham start:

Code: Select all

Amersham dep 05:28
Chalfont & Latimer arr 05:32
                   dep 05:39
Chesham arr 05:48
                   dep 05:58
Moor Park arr 06:20
                   dep 06:22
Watford arr 06:30
                   dep 06:33
North Harrow arr 06:50
Swap Amersham and Chesham, but keep the remainder the same, and you get the following:

Code: Select all

Chesham dep 05:19
Chalfont & Latimer arr 05:28
                   dep 05:58
Amersham arr 06:03
                   dep 06:16
Moor Park arr 06:33
                   dep 06:42
Watford arr 06:50
                   dep 07:00
North Harrow arr 07:18
Adding an extra 37 minutes to your time, mostly due to just missing trains at Chalfont and Watford.

Cheers,

Barry
