I'm going next Thursday (17th).
My brother has agreed to join me so we should have a good time.

How good time? 18:35:38 or better?

Seriously, are you planning to do both replacement buses (Shoreditch and HT4)?

Yes i did mean an enjoyable time. But yes we do plan on doing both buses. According to journey planner (no heckling please) the Shoreditch bus adds an hour onto my route!

Okay, I won't heckle, but I will query:

The bus takes 10 minutes each way, average five minute waiting time at one end only (you can just stay on the bus at the other end), plus an average three minute wait at Whitechapel if you're continuing with the ELL. Compare that to a two minute journey each way on the train, with an average three minute wait going to Shoreditch and six minutes out.

Which means the bus should take around 28 minutes, with the tube taking approximately 13 minutes. Hence, I calculate you lose around 15 minutes on the replacement bus. How on Earth can you lose an hour?

the way it works out with later connections, e.g. i then miss a bus at the top of the northern line and have to wait another 20 minutes -- other such problems occur and (believe me) my last train arrives into Upminster 60 minutes later than it theoretically would have done otherwise.
