18 hours 35 minutes...

Post by Steeevooo »

...and 38 seconds is the time to beat for the record now!

Yesterday, Tuesday 30th May, we (Steve Wilson and Sam Cawley) completed a successful 275 stations attempt in the time of 18 hours, 35 minutes and 38 seconds, thus shaving a massive 5 seconds off the record time.

Knowing that we were on the same last train as Neil and Geoff was mightily nerve-wracking, to say the least!

Many thanks to Root (Ollie) and tpfkar (Ric) for being the Independent Stopwatch Carriers, and to Dr. Chris for bringing us lunch!

And may I be the first to say congratulations - finally somebody beat us!

The reason I don't sound surprised is because Sam emailed me earlier today to let me know they'd thrashed us by such a huge margin.

Sadly though, we all have a long way to go to catch ******** ...

For anyone in doubt that every second does indeed count, the proof is right here.

Nice stuff guys ... but it's only official once Guinness say it's official! When we got 18:35.43, I was careful to tout it on my pages as "Not yet confirmed by Guinness", as it took them three months (after I'd submitted all the info) for them to give the all ok.

Amused that you were on the same final train - makes me wonder how similar our route were/are!

Have you got a write up anywhere? Any photos? Any big delays? Was 18:35 your target time? Etc.. etc.. details!! :-)

Thanks, appreciate that it's only official once Guinness say so, so they may confirm it some time this side of 2010 then :D

We will be doing a write up at some point soon, we have photos to upload as well, they will go along with the write up.

18:35 wasn't our target time, would be a bit foolish to have a target time that was exactly the same as the current record, as once you get a bit behind it, then you're stuffed! Needless to say, we did finish quite a bit down on our target time, mainly due to my personal nemesis known as the Eastern End of the Central Line!

nice one, congratulations! even if guiness can't confirm it, the fact that H4 was buggered when you did it and it wasn't when geoff and neil did, makes that impressive enough :)

Of course we did H4 by bus, otherwise it would have been a successful 274 attempt :P

You dont have long to get fit and reclaim the 275, that is unless you are gonna do it after 9th June and get a bus to a station that doesn't exist

I'm not as fit as I was two years ago and I won't do a proper, full 274/5 without feeling as fit as I did.
