Hi

I'm planning my first attempt for early next year. Starting a Hatton Cross, going down to Heathrow finishing at Chesham or Amersham. I would appriciate any hints that anyone may have.

Thanks

Plenty of information buried on this forum. Do lots of reading. Study the geography of the lines on Google Maps. Use the working timetables if you need very specific timings. Know that attempt #1 won't go to plan and improvisation skills improve with time.

Also Hatton Cross seems a strange choice of station to start your stopwatch at...

I know it's an odd station but the parking is cheaper than Heathrow and its a long walk from terminal 5 to the long stay car park. I know there is a shuttle bus but I can't find what happens with that overnight

It's a few years since I checked, but Hounslow East had a cheap car park and lets you ride down to Heathrow super early

It is alot cheaper, first tube is around 04:50 - ive got a travelodge booked. Its on the m4 near heathrow airport so don't have to be up stupidly early

You don't need to start your stopwatch on the first train you take of the day, just when you want to start the attempt. So, assuming you're doing Heathrow to begin with, you don't need to start your stopwatch until you depart Terminal 4, since you'll be going back through Hatton Cross anyway.

Which is what I was hinting at above without completely giving the game away... :!:

It's entirely up to you how you go about visiting all the stations including the Heathrow section :P What are your thoughts?

I'm not sure that's "giving the game away"!

I've already counted for Edgware Road and Paddington. Are there any other stations on the network twice. I've done myself a list and I can only get it to 269 stations.

Are you counting two Hammersmiths?

If you have and you still only got 269, then you've missed one. I'd check your route carefully, or it could mess up a completion.
