275 Attempt times

Post by Steeevooo »

It was mentioned in another thread that we should post our 275 times so that we can create a complete list of them, so I thought that I would get the ball rolling...

Myself (Steve Wilson) and Chris Searle did an attempt last September and recorded a time of 19 hours 17 minutes and 47 seconds.

Then myself, Chris Searle and Sam Cawley did an attempt in March this year and recorded a time of 19 hours 28 minutes 34 seconds.

So, over to you guys, lets compile a list as we have for the other challenges :)

Geoff and I completed all 275 stations on the 5th of May, 2004 in a time of 18 hours, 35 minutes and 43 seconds.

I don't know if that's any good but you can stick it in the list anyway.

Don't think you've broken ********'s record, Neil. Better luck next time.

If you're interested in failed attempts:

On March 21st -06 we (Håkan Wolgé and Lars Andersson) did 273 stations in 18h08m.

We missed out on Ken (O) and W Ken due to a power failure two hours from finish - otherwise we'd probably had done it in 18h25m... :?

Hmm... based on this, does that make myself and Steve the third fastest people to fully complete a 275?!?

Or are people holding something back...

(It goes without saying that Hakan and Lars are astonishingly fast, but unfortunately cannot be counted due to bad luck regarding said power failure...)

My dad sent me the tape of "Race Around The Underground" in light of my forthcoming attempt, and I thought;

If Geoff had beaten Jack's record on that day, even by only a few minutes, would he have gone out to do it again? In the tape he talks about how much he wants the record, and since he got it he's only done it for charity. Wouldn't it have been strange if Geoff had set a new time just under Jack's time, thus not gone on to completely obliterate it later on with Neil... somebody else may have claimed the record off them by now! How different things could have been if he'd taken the second train out of Heathrow .

I think you have to remember that there is very little point in trying to better the record at the moment - network conditions to not act favourably. You never know - one day Geoff might be back to try again.

What I always thought was interesting is that on the day of tube relief - if Geoff and Neil had been doing it for real then they probably would have got a really decent time - better than the record - not withstanding the fact that the Watford train was late.

I disagree, at least after SHoreditch closes there is.

Hakan nearly managed it.

That was before the speed restrictions came into play...

Hopefully, for our sake, they'll be gone by June the 16th! Gotta think positive, unlike some people (moley) :P.

18h 46m 52s Not the world record but is my best time for 275 by quite some way. I will have a crack again in september at the new 274.
