Then there's also an issue of morals- do you break the speed limit while driving in order to make an earlier train?!
I suspect that one of the reasons why Guinness dropped the Class B record was so as not to be seen to encourage racing by car on public roads.

So endangering someone's life isn't a moral issue? I'm not talking about going at 31 or 32 or even 35 miles an hour in a 30 zone... I'm talking about going at an excessive speed, something the police would stop you for. And as for being safe to do so- doesn't the fact that the limit there suggest that exceeding it is unsafe? The point can also be expanded to all unsafe driving- dangerous overtaking manoevres, driving the wrong way down a 1 way street etc.

I trust that if anyone does attempt a class B that they will use private transport safely and reasonably.

Far to often we obey these speed limits too 'religiously'.

For example. Is it safe to do 30 mph down a residential street with parked cars on both sides? Even though the speed limit is 30 its not safe to do 30.

Is it safe to do 50 in a 40 zone in a rural area with no pedestrians and other hazards? Even though the speed limit is 40 its safe to do 50.

Well Alcohol, Caffeine and Loperamide have been used by challengers!

Random fact:
The first athlete to fail a drug test at the Olympics was due to him having two pints of beer to calm is nerves.
