With no exhibition service we were back to a Heathrow start, and probably started much the same as others to get an early Ken O. The twist was that twice recently off this start we've got to West Ken early and jogged to Ken O with walk breaks to narrowly miss the 6:06 - this time we'd decided to pelt it and had a very nice route off the 6:06. Unfortunately, although the Picc train didn't get held, it did dawdle, so we only had four minutes from West Ken and didn't quite make it - we need to work on fitness. The other fly in the ointment was that on the way into West Ken (it might hve been when we'd swapped to the District) there was an announcement saying "The District line is suspended from Ken O to Earl's Court". We decided to ignore it as otherwise we'd be left with a nasty evening Ken O. It could of course have turned out that way anyhow, but fortunately not. The other surprise was that the new Olympic line diagram said tht Ken O only got weekend services - something for the future?

Anyway, we had a route off the 6:15, so all still good. Then the Ken O train got held - not unusual, but once it pushed up to 5 minutes it was a problem. Then a further wait. We had a fall back train if we missed our nice connection to loop train, which was looking likely, as we had a MHE option. In the end we missed both, which left us with a long wait either way.

I guess we could have tried to wing it, but with a faster time then previously on record, and a NW finish where you can easily lose half an hour if you lose five minutes earlier, it all looked bit bleak. The thought of a fry up was too much - we bailed, and resolved to fight another day.

This is not the first time a held Olympia train has cost a good connection onto the loop, which is why we had the back up MHE option. While I can understand it's not as high a priority as a train with more people on, this hold was surprisingly long. There seems to be a weird halfwy house where the Ken O erly morning trains appear on JP but according to the line diagram (and announcement - was this just an error) shouldn't run.
