GWR Attempt- May 28th (Wednesday before Z1)

Post by joy54 »

Mentioned before Me and Scrxisi are attempting to beat the Brown's record on Wednesday 28th May starting again from Amersham and finishing at Heathrow Terminal 5. Hopefully the aching legs will be gone by Friday!!!

Any support would definatly be greatly appreciated (especially at Mill Hill East!!!)

Thanks in advance

Steven

As it's a Tuesday I will be available to help from 17:30 onwards. Can also offer to stop watch if you don't have anyone else available to do this. All the best Antony

p.s. just checking that you do mean Tuesday? As 28th May is a Wednesday?
One day I shall return!

OK, as it's a Wednesday I wont be able to help in the evening, however, I would be able to start the watch in the morning if required.

I may well be about to support most of the day, get some grub and stop the watch, it all depends on what happens the previous day Editorsfoot attempt......

Not that I should be helping mind you being the provisional GWR holder

Yeh Parsons Green was pretty lucky!! Good chips as well, was really lucky it was advertised as a Barking train right up until it came in and then changed to Edgware Road just as scxrisi called me to check.

just a small warning for you both that day, there is the International Friendly England vs USA at Wembley on the 28th, with the unusual kick off time of 8.05pm. I doubt you will be trying to cover that area in the evening anyway, but just so you're aware...

i might be sounding an alarm but it would have been good news for Mr Editorsfoot seeing as he cant do due to a broken ankle that tuesday 27th may a blockage of London Transport is being arranged.Would this create a knock on effect for the morning trains :( on the wednesday.

where did you hear about this?

all i could find when trying to look up what you're on about is a planned lorry blockage of the A40 in protest of fuel prices and congestion charge. nothing to do with public transport/tubes.....

well im thinking that if all the roads are blocked up it cause so many people to get on the tube and more trains will break down thus creating the knock on effect. :?:

I'm not sure that's quite how it works. :)

Although I could see LU using that as an excuse actually! :?

Plus the enigineering staff that work overnight have to get to certain places and away from them ie the moor park connection at 06.22 is notorius for enigineering diffuculties.

Taken from an article in the news

Lorry drivers are to pour into London for what organisers hope will be the largest-ever fuel duty protest in the capital.

Hauliers are angry at soaring fuel prices which have resulted in the average cost of diesel passing far beyond the 120p-a-litre mark.

Led by lorry drivers from Kent, the protest is expected to attract hundreds of hauliers from all around the UK.

The convoy will make its way to central London, parking close to Marble Arch.
