Tami

Myself and my family are thinking of you and yours during what must be a very worrying time. I'll be back working at Earl's Court from Wednesday morning, so fell free to pop in to say hello.

Thank you all for your kindness. It is so strange being on the receiving end since most of the time with my job I am the one who is consoling those in need. I couldnt sleep and woke at 4am and found the Marriot who had an intenet. I checked the news and such and I am closely following Katrina who reached CAT 5. I called my friend in Tebworth , theretired police officer, and I will go to his house since I dont know how long I will be there. Thank you all for your offers. I appreciate it. I dont know when I will get out. I have one sister who stayed and she is keeping me apprised via internet for as long as the power is on. I can't locate the others as they are gone somewhere. Annie did a wonderful blog for me on her sight and that coupled with all of your reponses has broken me to tears. Something a COP NEVER lets one see. LOL. But this will fair out I am sure. IAs you all know I want to emmigrate here when I retire but I think the man upstairs got the wrong message. LOL. One has to have humour in some things. I will keep ya'll posted and thank TUBE GURU for allowing me the run of the board for a bit. Love ya'll

Tami

It's the very least we can do. We were all delighted and amazed that you came over from the States to help us and since meeting you we've been entertained by your enthusiasm and warmed by your generous spirit.

We are totally serious if you want to meet up with us over the next few days and I know that Helene is also serious in her offer of somewhere to stay.

Take care and stay strong and keep your great sense of humour, as you say "the man upstairs" has a funny way of showing you that you should emigrate to the UK when you retire!

Tami - all of our thoughts are with you. I know anything that I can say will hardly be adequate, but I am so sorry.

Practical issues: since you came over here to support us, it is the least we can do to support you. Is there anything you need? It sounds like you have food and accommodation, but what else? A mobile phone? A car? Money? If you need any help financially please do let us know. We know how much it cost you to get here. I can get £50 to you for starters...

Thank you for wanting to help me. I am ok now and trying to see about how the flooding and damage is to get home . My husband is in Florida. He drove what should have been a three hour trip took eleven hours with his mother, our son, 5 dogs (4 are mine), and no air conditioning in a 100 degree weather. He is trying to find a hotel room. He needs prayers more than me. My sister who stayed hasnt been reached yet and I am trying to find her. The airline is trying to help me. Let me put some humour in this.. Can you get me an upgrade when I do get home?? LOL. Seriously, I am ok now and getting a neck ache watching the internet. I will keep all posted and I love you all!

Tami,

The BBC have posted your comment:

I came here to help raise money by completing all 275 tube stations in 20 hours with a group of UK citizens. I hope to have a home to go back to when I do get home. I appreciate all the prayers and support.

The news is bad. My subdivision is completely submerged under water and most houses are gone. Tornado hit. The news reports here doesnt do justice to what has happened according to wwltv.com. The city is 80% under water. Bodies are floating in the street. Police are trapped atop roofs unable to relieve other officers on their tour. Both airports are underwater. The 5 mile bridge from the city to the outskirts is gone. Very Important to me. Looting is going on. I hsve contact with one sister who fled the city but unable to locate the other who stayed behind and lives 6 miles from me. My hubby is somewhere in Florida but I cant reach him. I am trying to get back to the states but I dont know where to go to reach my city cause both sections are gone. I woke up and thought this was a dream. The good news: My pups and hubby, son, one sister, dad, niece (8 months pregnant-her famiy) is safe. I also have ya'll for support.

As always, if theres anything any of us can do, you know you just need to shout.

Hi all,
The latest news: the breech to the level has not been fixed with the sand bagging and no expect 15 more feet of water. They are trying to evacuate the rest of the city. The pump in a certain area isnt working. Water is continuing to rise now.

The police/firemen are tying bodies to poles because there is no place to put them.. Rescue still in action .

The Hospital is trying to evacuate its patients because of rising flood and lack of power.

The inmates at the prision are needing to be evacuated due to rising water. Word on tv but not verified that riot at jail but news media isnt sure.Looting rampant.

The national guard and red cross are there helping.Rumour on the forum, I cant confirm, police shot in head by looter. I havent heard anything on it.

I still cant locate my sister but did talk to husband and he is in Fort Walton beach hotel without power. I havent heard form our 19yr old who is now unaccounted for.
I am going to try to get back on Thursday but I dont know where I will be .

Thanks for all your support and kindness....Especially my @therapy~ group! from Shephard's Bush

Tami - it was a pleasure to spend time your company today.. so no need for thanks!

Hope you've managed to wash the dirty feeling from the phoographer off ;)

And if theres anything I can do, just shout, OK? We're off to the zoo tomorrow, and if you would be more than welcome to join us.

All my thoughts are in New Orleans at the moment, especially with those you care about.

We all saw Tami in Shepherds Bush this evening. She's holding up - as someone observed in the pub on Saturday "she's a tough cookie".

Bizarrely the Evening Standard called me today eventually getting back to me press-wise about TubeRelief (!), and when I told them the Tami "stuck" here story instead, they wanted to talk to her.

So without being too media-whoreish, and I hope as a way of allowing her to express her emotions, one Mrs Brisset will be be in today's (Wednesday 31st August) London Evening Standard ...

Our thoughts are with you Tami!

I have made final arrangements to go to the States and will leaving tomorrow morning. Jennifer H. has offered me a night in Brighton which is nearer to Gatwick so I am going to go to her home this evening. I will be flying to Tampa Fla. to meet my husband and family and his ex-wife's mother will be putting us up till I can decide what to do.

The latest news is a police officer was shot in the head (survived) by a looter. The army is coming to help/ Looting is rampant and the water has risen 10 feet more in places because the levee was breeched with 500 feet of break.

The Mayor is upset because a blackhawk that was suppose to bring the 3000 sand bags for the breech didnt show up and was diverted and caused this added calamity.

I contacted my sister in MISSISSIPPI and she has not heard anything from my sister in ST TAMMANY. The water supply is contaminated and they need to bring in supplies. PEople are still trapped and now they are evacuating all those in new orleans that didnt leave because of the flood waters.

Bodies are tied to trees and still being pushed asside because resuce of those alive are paramount. I put emails on different forums to ty to get some essential police info but I am not successful. The wwltv.com streaming video is my live line.

I want to thank ALL of ya'll for the love and support you have shown me throughout this ordeal. I know that without each of you I would have not have coped and completely broke down. As I told some of you, I am always in control and the one who helps those in distress and now I am on the receiving end which makes me uncomfortable but humbled. People of the USA have no idea what support you have given me and I will always make sure that I let them know and will not forget.

I hope to see the sunny side of this later and will try to keep in touch until I am settled. I plan on returning to the UK and maybe Geoff can arrange a get together/challenge for us to do.

So,i f I have to say what was the last best day of my life it would be at 5AM at amersham with all of you. Little did I know that those 20 wonderful hours would be my lat wonderful hours for some time to come. However, I know that good days will be ahead.

In closing, i will keep a stiff upper lip, get on the plane(hey if anyone can get me an upgrade I'd like that ! LOL :D and go back to the states (notice I dont say home cause here is my home now) and do what I do best..
I love you all..... Tami
