A Good Omen

Well it's happened to me now! At Tottenham Hale this morning the "Say Hello" Man got on the tube and said "hello" to me :D

For those who don't know this guy has been going round the tube since the bombings wearing a three piece suit, bowler hat and umbrella and has a green band around his hat with the words "Say Hello!" printed on it.

He's obviously a bit touched, poor man, but it's the thought that counts :)

More details and a picture (if memory serves) on Annie Mole's blog

I'm sure that bodes well for tomorrow - perhaps we could have a prize for anyone who spots him and manages to take a photograph??

Yes, I saw this guy two Saturdays ago on two separate occasions and blogged it somewhere or other.

He's changed the colour of his band as it was red when I saw him.

Er.. his name is Dominic Elder, and i've been talking to him for the past week over email 'cause he's TAKING PART tomorrow! (for some of it) - you should have told him! D'oh!

He's 'taking part for some of it?'

That's hardly a bloody tube challenge, is it?

There is a small but devoted band of people who are there to help us on the day. Most of them will be in or near Euston all day but Dominic will be out and about to give us some moral support.

Not Tube Challenge, for sure, but just as hard, and without the glory. You try sitting in Euston for 15 hours and then telling everybody back at work what you did on your day off.

You did know I was emailing him though Neil.

Anyway, yes - he is slighty "touched", and he had reservations about doing the whole thing in his bowler hat, so he's coming out for bits of it ... i.e. he'll go to Euston drop-in centre, wait for someone to pitch up, tag along with them for a bit, then go back to Euston, pitch up with someone else, etc.. etc..

You emailed me about him, yes. But I don't recall you telling me he was actually goinh to join us.

Maybe he did.

Anyway, since the whole thing's cancelled now, it doesn't matter ........

Pity, since I'm absolutely not intending on getting off any trains at Euston at all; it's worse than Camden Town!

I might also say, sort of taking back my earlier comment, that given what we are contemplating doing for 19-20 hours tomorrow means that none of us can be right in the head anyway!

He's here

Good publicity anyway even if he's only doing a bit and will certainly make for interesting piccies.
