Guinness "ruling" - Shoreditch still in!

Post by hwolge »

Just got this in my mail:
Dear Mr Wolgé,

Thank you for contacting Guinness World Records.

You will have to use the replacement bus as "a new Shoreditch High Street station will be provided once the East London Line extension opens".

Good luck!

Yours sincerely,

Andrea Banfi
Guinness World Records
Well, what can you say? Expected, but the explanation is just terrible...

Looks like there's no point in going out to set a new "274" record then.

275 it still is ...

Of course, it won't be an extension on the tube system, but Guinness seem oblivious to this point.

They really are a bit dense aren't they?

GWR appear to be as dense as a... well, a very dense thing.

Can someone please remind me when Shoreditch High Street station is supposed to open?

Does anyone know if LUL plan on running the replacement bus service until then?

If there wasn't a replacement bus service, we wouldn't have to use it.

But as the new station will be part of National Rail when it re-opens, it's not even an option!

Guinness don't appear to have grasped this point.

Can we appeal to Guiness or is 'set in stone'? The replacement bus is not even run by the tube arm of TFL.

I think we should all write to them, explaining in no uncertain terms why they're very wrong.

Just the words of one messy-haired fat lad aren't going to do the trick by themselves - I need all variety of ne'er-do-wells to join in the fun....

I'm willing to give it a go, and I'm definitely a ne'er do well! Not sure what it will achieve but its worth trying.

Starting to get the feel for Guinness, I'd say it's set in stone for ME but not necessarily for everyone else putting the same question to them... I'm interested in knowing if other challengers that have been in touch with GWR recently have had the same contact person - Andrea Banfi?

That is such a load of bollocks. Guinness know nothing. As Geoff says, they don't care about this damn record even if we all do.

I'm in on the appeal.

I was thinking of knocking up a standard letter to send to them? What are people's views on this? Worthwhile, or better if we all put it in our own words?
