Victoria Line timetabled to within 5 seconds!

Post by michael_churchill »

The thread about the Kensington Olympia shuttle mentioned that there are new working timetables coming in on 15 May, so I went to have a look... and now the Victoria Line is timetabled to a resolution of 5 seconds!

For example the table of running times, between Green Park and Victoria, gives 105 seconds northbound and 125 seconds southbound, rather than 1 3/4 and 2 minutes.

An example from the actual timetable...
Brixton dep. 09:39:00
Stockwell 09:41:20
Vauxhall 09:43:30
Pimlico 09:44:55
etc.

I wonder if this is the first time LU timetables have been to this level of accuracy.

In more practical terms, it appears the big change is that trains will generally run end to end between Brixton and Walthamstow, with no trains terminating at Seven Sisters.

Why does it make Tube Challenging a lot easier? The majority of services currently don't terminate at Seven Sisters but at Walthamstow Central anyway...

OK, maybe exaggerated then. But could help sometimes.

I tell you what is a lot easier and that is reading the WTTs. No longer having to squint to see if that little black squiggle is a quarter a half or a three quarter (or blowing up the magnification so you get about three trains on your screen). Bring it on for the rest of the lines, I say!

Might need to find another signature... the renewal of the crossovers at Walthamstow last summer enabled this to be implemented. Thought it would be introduced sooner to take advantage of the new infrastructure.

This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!
