24 Hour a Day Tube
There are plans afoot to run parts of the tube 24 hours a day on the segments shown in this picture
Sadly some bits go off the edge, but assuming all Heathrow terminals are open, could this see people starting later than usual up in the NW corner on Friday and finishing at T5 in the small hours of Saturday?

Re: 24 Hour a Day Tube
Just found DG's full map - T4 isn't open. There might still be some new options opening up though?

Re: 24 Hour a Day Tube
Both Edgware - Stanmore and High Barnet - Cockfosters remain intact! Imagine doing those two in the DARK and then connecting up to the 4:55 from Hounslow West (the first T4 train of the day?)

Re: 24 Hour a Day Tube
I'm guessing some connecting buses wouldn't be running so a lot of running would be required.
I wonder how Guinness would view a 50-50 Fri-Sat record?

Good point about MHE - but Edgware - Stanmore still works!

Why would the unions not like the exclusion of those two pieces of line?hopeful traveller wrote:No Mill Hill East or Hainault loop.

Re: 24 Hour a Day Tube
Those facts aren't related, but I don't see the unions liking this considering what Mike Brown has said here. Sure, they could (could!) run the Jubilee, Northern, Victoria, and Central lines without any staff members present (any news on driverless trains, anyone?) - but the Piccadilly in 2015? That will never work and I can't see unions liking driving between 1am and 5am...tubeguru wrote:Why would the unions not like the exclusion of those two pieces of line?hopeful traveller wrote:No Mill Hill East or Hainault loop.

Re: 24 Hour a Day Tube
Guinness would view a 50-50 record as a record for the Friday - it's no different from attempts which finish after midnight. Travelcards might be a problem though - imagine riding down the Piccadilly towards a finish at Heathrow (as I suggested) and your travelcard expires...
102 from East Finchley to Bounds Green is the furthest down High Barnet - Cockfosters that a connecting bus runs. So yes, running would be required.
N26 from Walthamstow to Leyton would be an extremely decent connection though (if you time it right). Runs every 20 minutes, and as a night bus runs at great speeds. Perhaps tie in with the last loop train.

Re: 24 Hour a Day Tube
I've driven a train between those two times, and we have a sleeper train that does just that. Our union haven't kicked up too much of a stink over it.hopeful traveller wrote:Those facts aren't related, but I don't see the unions liking this considering what Mike Brown has said here. We are too used to ticket offices in this country. Go to Singapore and they dont have any. They have a chap that lingers in the ticket office area and will give change but otherwise its lots and lots of simple ticket machines.Iain wrote:...but in this case it's nearly 1000 jobs being lost.

Go to KL. They've got a Ticket Office - but the people behind the desk will not sell you tickets, but send you over to the machines instead.
