Surely not ANOTHER Tory promise being broken? Tut tut ...Iain wrote:...but in this case it's nearly 1000 jobs being lost.

Actually, they've reduced opening hours, not closed.tubeguru wrote:Surely not ANOTHER Tory promise being broken? Tut tut ...Iain wrote:...but in this case it's nearly 1000 jobs being lost.

I guess if you want to split hairs, the promise hasn't actually been broken yet...

That promise was in 2008. And he didn't promise to renew it in 2012...Iain wrote:Here's one of HT's reliable sources:

He said it in the last election campaign, so much more recently than that

Re: 24 Hour a Day Tube
I spoke to a friend who is a Northern line driver. She told me that everyone has come down against the proposals for the ticket off closures and redundancies/lay-offs.
They're also not happy about the 24-hour tube, but only because there was no union consultation. As usual, they will accept it once they have received a pay increase to cover the inconvenience. That's how it usually works, because I have benefited from this sort of thing myself.

Re: 24 Hour a Day Tube
On the subject, I'm still extremely keen to get into tube driving with TfL and won't let the 24 hour map deter me, funny enough I'd probably be the one person to volunteer on the night shifts!

Re: 24 Hour a Day Tube
In terms of service, the mooted service appears to be at least one train every 15 minutes through the central sections, which could be great if you time it right, but lead to a fair bit of waiting, if not!
