Final A-Stock in passenger service
In the previous thread, greatkingrat mentions that TfL plan to run an A-Stock in passenger service for the last time on Wednesday 26th September.
Would anyone fancy meeting up for one final ride on the Wednesday evening, and perhaps a challenge too?

I'm on rest day week that week. But it's a long way to come up to London by train, just for a few rides on er, another train.

I love the A-Stock, but it's an almost seven-hour round trip to get there and home!Sam wrote:You mean you aren't feeling the A stock love either?tubeguru wrote:I'm on rest day week that week. But it's a long way to come up to London by train, just for a few rides on er, another train.

Re: Final A-Stock in passenger service
Here's that A Stock timetable - just to get this in this thread.
0802 Wembley Park - Watford 0830
0840 Watford - Baker Street 0922
0928 Baker Street - Amersham 1022
1047 Amersham - Aldgate 1200
1212 Aldgate - Amersham 1322
1347 Amersham - Aldgate 1500
1512 Aldgate - Amersham 1623
1646 Amersham - Aldgate 1801
1808 Aldgate - Watford 1907
1917 Watford - Harrow-on-the-Hill 1939
I may go on this (Rail tour is our school's "Open Day") but I'm at school. What I think I'll do is probably get a train up to Rickmansworth/Chorleywood from Harrow and wait there. Then I might ride around a bit when it comes.
EDIT: I'm doing the above in the evening - school starts at 0830 (early, I know) and so there's no chance of me getting to Wembley Park, then Harrow-on-the-Hill, then school.

Re: Final A-Stock in passenger service
Thanks Hopeful Traveller!
I hope to be on it, up until Harrow-on-the Hill at around 09:51 in the morning, although I expect many people might be at work/play/sleep/busy doing other things at that time!
Hope you all have a nice evening, though! That will be the good bit - probably - where lots of people turn up and cheer, and so on. Actually I have no idea if that's what will happen, but I think it should happen!

Unfortunately I'm going to have to drop out of this, thanks to a complete lack of funds! It's a disappointment, as it would have been nice to make it down for the day.

Re: Final A-Stock in passenger service
I'll be in town in the morning. I'll probably get the 1212 out of Aldgate, head out to Amersham and finish on the 1500 at Aldgate. I've got to get back to work at 18:30 annoyingly.

I'll be on board, definitely - most likely in the afternoon, with video camera, interviewing passengers about the demise of the old trains ...

I'll just watch Geoff's video and save myself the cost of the train ticket!
