Travelcards
Our September date with destiny is drawing ever closer!
Simple question to which I cannot find the answer anywhere............
Can I buy our zone 1-9 travelcards ahead of the day itself?
If so where from as it seems I can only buy zone 1-4 or 1-6 online. Also how far in advance can you buy them?
Living away from London, if I need to buy at a tube station my only trip up is 3 weeks before our attempt.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: Travelcards
Cheers for that, will get them from machines if no other option.
However, with 10 of us split over 3 teams I'd prefer to get them in advance if at all possible.

Re: Travelcards
You can certainly buy them the day before, I have never tried to buy one earlier than that.
In theory, any National Rail station should be able to issue a Z1-9 travelcard, in practice they may have difficulty as it probably isn't a very common request!

Re: Travelcards
A NR station can issue a 1-9 travelcard (ask for it from Amersham), however they do not operate the barriers at any stations out side zone 6 (except Amersham). This may not be an issue for you.

Re: Travelcards
Al, that's interesting - is that based upon your experience or something that you read somewhere as verbatim? I always had issues with my paper ticket at North Harrow, but found that if I went out and back in at either Amersham or Chesham it then worked and wasn't an issue. (we'd often buy our tickets and start at Rickmansworth or Wembley Park)

Re: Travelcards
Personal experience. I think it may be because the outer zones are shown in the route section not the destination, but that's just a theory.

Re: Travelcards
Thanks for that good to know.
Not planning to leave the system outside of Zone 6, so shouldn't be an issue.

Re: Travelcards
mmmm, might want actual tube tickets in that case.
I assume that tube stations can issue tickets for advance dates? Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Re: Travelcards
If you get it in advance, be sure to keep in on its own away from anything especially mobile phones and bank cards as they love to kill tickets! That's why there is a 7 day limit because they tend to not work if bought too far in advance.

Re: Travelcards
This is not good as not gonna be anywhere near London in the week before.
So, will I be able to buy a 1-9 travelcard from a ticket machine at a zone 6 station, or will I need an open ticket office?
