Re: 150 Years of the Underground

I can't help noticing a divide between articles claiming that the first line of the Metropolitan Railway ran between Praed Street (modern day District platforms at Paddington) and Farringdon http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/road-and-rail-transport/9790918/They-said-the-London-Underground-would...

Re: Comic Relief 2013 - Friday 15th March

Since trains run into Richmond until 01.04, whereas the last train to T4 is 00.01, wouldn't T5 -> Richmond work better? Or is there no way this route can cope with Olympia?

Re: 70 stations in 1 picture - ANSWERS (BEWARE SPOILERS)

From Tubeguru's answer, the three we lose are

Highgate (the gate is part of the Lancaster Gate clue);
Gunnersbury (it's Arsenal);
Westminster (this name is part of the Queensway clue).

With the help of some spoilers from this forum, our household also has 75/75 online :)

Re: R15 Championship Scoring

I've rustled up a scoring spreadsheet for the R15 this afternoon (which I'll 'release' once we have confirmation on Andi's score for round 6), and I've been having a bit of a play about with it. Something I've been pondering is whether a change in the scoring system would serve to make the champion...

Just curious if anyone asked Guiness if the event service counts as normal timetabled trains for the record.

Thanks.
Interesting question. I think it's pretty much universally agreed to be OK, this is "an underground train in normal public service".

Though I seem to appear twice in the answers to q8, I did only say Bolivia, not Malta ;-)

Re: HS2

As we know, by some accident of railway history, Birmingham ended up not being on the main WCML, but on a loop off it. Given the chance to start again with an almost blank sheet of paper, why is Birmingham planned to end up on a branch off the main London - Machester / Leeds - Glasgow / Newcastle / ...

Re: 150 Years of the Underground

Next year is the 150th anniversary of the first undergound line; I was wondering if anyone was interested in doing an event to celebrate it. We were chatting on our run yesterday and one idea was to do the fastest time for the classic original Beck map as far as possible. Obviously places like Aldw...
