Re: Practice attempt

Both Chesham and Amersham have them. Raised £1000 for charity in the end, so that helped those local Facebook communities get on board helping with witnesses

Re: Practice attempt

I'm still to fully write up by 8th Sept attempt (17:13:08 - how do I get Nigel to add that to the times list?) but for Chesham, the Facebook community board were incredibly helpful and keen to help when one of my witnesses pulled out last minute. Otherwise it's certainly a case of beg borrow and ste...

Re: Recce runs

Sanity gone. Stupidest of mistakes, very very early in my run (got on wrong train...) going again next Friday

Re: Recce runs

So these Recce runs have mounted up, and I've spent the time getting them into my notes rather than onto this forum... but my attempt is this Friday. I'll attempt to share as much as I can after the event, and after a relaxing (non-tube, non-running) weekend away! Any last minute pieces of advice or...

Re: Guinness world record regulations

I thought that here would be as good a place as any to quote, in full, the appeal rejection email that I have just received from GWR in regards to mine and Andi's Berlin attempt: Thank you for submitting the appeal of your records decision to Guinness World Records. After a full Records Management ...

Re: Guinness world record regulations

Agreed! It says video, not what the quality of recording is like! As fiddly as it would be, I wonder if filming every train door open/photo, and turning the camera off to conserve battery when I couldn't possibly be doing anything other than sitting ON A TRAIN going between two points that I've film...

Re: Triple Crown Day - 12th August

It certainly was a great day to be attempting a NW corner test run, coming down the Bakerloo line at 10am    .... but maybe better than my normal commute which gets off at Oxford Circus Victoria line....

Re: Guinness world record regulations

Thanks Steeevooo! It is definitely making me consider whether I should just make an attempt that would be considered valid by this forum, rather than trying to please the GWR. Recognition by this group of a fair attempt arguably more important a placement in a book. Alternatively, I might attempt to...

Recce runs

I promised to give back to the forum, given that I've taken a lot of good advice already. Practice makes perfect I was told. Don't plan it on a spreadsheet. Well starting with the mother of all spreadsheets with multiple start times, and routes wrapped around the least frequent trains, I have a rout...

Re: Guinness world record regulations

Resurrecting this post as I try to ensure I have considered everything ahead of an upcoming attempt, and after a NW corner test run this morning (that I'll try to write up separately). I know that is not the forum I have to convince, but what I am interpreting from GWRs is that the main aim is provi...

Re: How many ...?

Great timing of this article then.... I'm attempting a FNC on Friday 1st Sept. was attempting to use an old colleague and their missus to act as witness, but that seems a little bit more challenging. Testing the theory - anyone forum members wanting to help here, then drop me a DM. Not going for fir...

Re: GWR Independent Witnesses

What does count as independent then? Or should the question be, what rules someone out from being independent. My missus wouldn't act as witness anyway, to my upcoming attempt, but had hoped to rope in an old university friend and her husband, that live close to to early morning start point, and two...

Re: Third attempt - Friday 30th June

Wow. Really strange how re-reading the first three posts on this thread, that there is no incorrect stating of any facts, or mention of a certain previous record holder. Not sure quite how that got out of hand. Oxpeter - I'll add to the to the previous comments - stay on, congratulations on your com...

Re: How many ...?

I knew this might get some mixed responses :) Tufnellpark - C2C toilets, great shout. For a man with the worlds weakest bladder, but the shout to stay hydrated, I've already been planning toilet stops with the tube map of toilets in stations (or mid run!). I never thought of the C2C trains, and no t...

Re: How many ...?

Interesting to read the views on this. I'm gearing up for my first FNC later this summer, and have found this forum both incredibly useful, but sometimes also a little impenetrable - regular shouts of "spoon feeding" to other newbies seemingly putting people off seeking advice. And I get some of it....
