Re: Night Tube FINALLY Agreed To By Unions

That would have been quite handy on my attempt last Friday. Instead of finding the second last train out of Amersham* going to Wembley Park and thinking 'what use is that?' The Jubilee Line will be available from there (and I live very close to a Northern Line station). * I can't remember where the ...

Re: Just Because It's There...

I completed the Challenge last Friday. I wrote a bit about it on the other forum about the attempts themselves. Thanks for the help.

First and last attempt, 4 March

Completed the Challenge on Friday, starting at Heathrow T4 and ending in Amersham. I had to do it this way in order to make one of the early Olympia trains as my planning does not run to working out how to be in the area for one of the late ones! This was a completely solo effort even to the extent ...

Re: Just Because It's There...

Actually I was going to get the app, but didn't realise it wouldn't go android. Is there anything similar for android or even PC? I bought a fold out map showing exits which is helpful though perhaps a bit out of date. Thanks again for the tips. The island tips are helpful - so I was reassured when ...

Re: Just Because It's There...

Well I've taken the plunge and decided to go for it in the next couple of weeks. Will do final planning next weekend. Haven't got a great route, no idea how long it's going to take, no idea if it's possible and doing it without support. Wouldn't have it any other way!

Re: Kensington Olympia Shuttle Updated Question!

How do you find out about these Olympia exhibition services? They don't seem to advertise them in advance. (I'm really struggling to make a plan that has a reasonable chance of getting the evening scheduled Olympia service!)

Re: Just Because It's There...

Thanks for all the replies so far, very helpful. Would appreciate some "route strategy" myself - I'm probably planning all the wrong moves! Also I've been building in what might be a lot of "redundancy" in terms of times at interconnections. Of course, without having made those interchanges, it's ve...

Re: Just Because It's There...

I have just started "exploring" the timetables, and I fail to see how you can fit in Richmond if you are heading for Olympia in the morning. Presumably this is not the case for you tubechallenge gurus! Also I note the comment that it is "inefficient" to do it later, but at the same time I presume yo...

Re: Just Because It's There...

I don't see any prospect of being within 20 stations of Olympia at the time the evening trains run... except by fluke! My planning just isn't that good. There are way too many variables to make any meaningful calculation for me, especially since this will be my first attempt. The only option that se...

Re: Night tube

I think because I wasn't thinking about breaking any records I got mixed up with (and hung up on) the idea of completing in a day - my version of the challenge if you like. As you say, the only object is speed so it doesn't matter about fitting it into a calendar day. Presumably this may give some o...

Re: Night tube

The night tube will be handy for me because whilst it may not help with the fastest time for completion, I think it may help getting a completion at all. I'm reading here that a lot of challenges fail completely, so I'm assuming that if you have trains running longer on some lines you have more flex...

Re: Just Because It's There...

Thank you for the prompt and informative reply. I would certainly prefer to do Olympia as early as possible rather than go for the evening trains, so thank you for that particularly. If that means finishing in the North West than so be it. I didn't get the bit about using overground trains at all, f...

Just Because It's There...

Hello all, new novice challenger here seeking all the advice he can get. I am looking to do the challenge simply as an achievement. I have no interest in breaking records, I just want to do it. Of course, without a certain amount of pre-planning the whole thing doesn't seem to be possible, so I am i...
