Re: Random 15 Championship 2019/20: Round 1

Bricklayers Arms is fine with me. I don’t think a pub in Droitwich should influence our decision. OBB (best bitter) is good and very good value for London. I’m surprised cider is so expensive. You get a room for darts and results and an office for Tangy. Location makes it easy to get to from any R1...

Re: Random 15 Championship 2019/20: Round 1

I am in London a few times over the next couple of weeks, I can have a look to see if there is another suitable venue that meets the needs of everyone. From the thread above they are - A dartboard, preferably in a separate room/area that can be booked out Somewhere with a decent selection of drinks ...

Re: Tube Challenge parkrun league...

As I was in the area visiting friends, I managed to tick of Uckfield. A great course all on trail through Buxted Park starting with a lap around the rugby club. Pretty muddy after the rain this week but good fun and I'm pretty happy with the time of 26:22.

Re: Random 15 Championship 2019/20: Round 1

The other place we have used before and always (from what I can remember) had a good time is the Prince William Henry in Southwark. Well priced food and drink which is also tasty, 2 dartboards to choose from, can accommodate parties of up to 24 and is in a pretty nice central location to get back to...

Re: Random 15 Championship 2019/20: Round 1

Wasn't expecting a gap like that at all, helps to have Al's knowledge for effective route planning and a pretty clean run! After opening the envelopes and doing some forward planning, we decided to do Waterloo (NR) first by going to Vauxhall and doubling back. We then tackled Waterloo (LU) a...

Re: Metrolink Challenge

I understand that, but hopefully, it doesn't mean I can't or shouldn't publish it. I did not expect anyone else, especially not the record holder to give me a route to accomplish, I was just eager to see how he got that record. My first three timetabling attempts showed me a minimum of 6 hours and ...

Re: Metrolink Challenge

I will do it, and I will publish it, also producing some videos. Just so you're aware for next time, people on here don't tend to reveal routes for any form of challenge on here. It's not because people are being unhelpful or obtuse but predominantly because we have all had to do it the hard way - ...

Re: Top Times: UK light rail

As stated above, I am more than guilty of using acronyms almost flippantly in conversation forgetting that people may not understand what I'm on about. The worst is when the same acronym can mean different things - for example CFD in my job could mean: Computational Fluid Dynamics Customer Facing De...

Re: Top Times: UK light rail

It may be worth clarifying your definition of "light rail" - for example, the RH&DR was created under a pair of LROs in the 1920s under the 1896 Act et al, and the K&ESR and EKLR are both examples of "Colonel Stephens" railways created under the 1896 Act et al. David Aaaargh! Acronym overload! We'r...

Re: Snake Challenge - The Return

BTW if I can make this I will probably do Raphael parkrun for 3 reasons... 1) It's one of the 5 I have left to do in "Londone" 2) All tarmac course whereas Roding Valley is mainly grass and we are moving into "mud" season by then 3) Already done Roding Valley twice So once I know for sure if I can ...

Re: Random 15 Championship 2019/20: Dates

On another note - I'm just wondering - would it be possible to add a feature to the R15 generator sometime to enable a list of excluded stations to be excluded from a spreadsheet? I like to run the generator a few times in advance of an R15 to try out different permutations and the list of stations...

Re: Random 15 Championship 2019/20: Round 1

Thanks Tangy for posting that, although I think you need to add Victoria (NR) to your list of excluded stations.

I should make it clear also that all credit needs to go to Andrew Baker (A2) for the "no crossing the Thames by rail" rule. I just added the extras to make it a Champion's Twist :D
