Re: Random 15 Championship 2018/19: Round 2

Just a thought though - wouldn't the subway underneath the Paddington hotel (i.e. at the bottom of the main steps from the Paddington NR concourse) be a better meeting place, as it would be easier to access the Bakerloo from there if anybody wanted to? Or is it too busy there?

Re: South of the River Challenge 27/10/2018

Thanks, David. I had included the walk from the exhibition venue to Swanley station in the hour and a half and I don't think I timed my arrival at the station right as the first train was Bromley South then straight to Victoria (and the boards weren't working so I couldn't see what was next). I ende...

South of the River Challenge 27/10/2018

Another example of "how not to do a challenge"! Today I attended a model railway exhibition in Swanley, Kent and decided to have a go at the 'South of the River' Challenge on the way home. (Yes, I know east to west is the wrong way to do this challenge, but I was just really aiming to get a time on ...

Re: Christmas Park Challenge 2018 - 15th December - Finsbury Park

I think Tufnell Park was chosen precisely because it was closed and therefore it was judged to be easier to start there, take the photo and travel on bus/by foot to an adjacent station once, rather than have to do a two-way trip for the photo.

Re: Could one train travel the entire tube network?

There's a connection from the Picc/Met to the Central through Ruislip depot.

Who's going to be the first tube driver member of this forum to attempt it? I hope they remember not to use sub-Surface stock ;-)

Re: Random 15 Championship 2018/19: Round 1

I've just discovered that Embankment station used to be called Charing Cross! Had I been doing the R15 a few decades ago, my original route would have been valid without the need to go out again.... ;-)

Just thinking that the "Starting station appearing on the list twice" could have produced an interesting start had it happened last year when an R15 started at Kennington!

All the terminals

As I got to Cannon Street (the first time!) early last Saturday, I decided to catch a train across the river and back again as I realised it was the only surviving Zone 1 terminus I'd never travelled out of! Which set me wondering - is there a record for travelling to/from all the Zone 1 terminals i...

Re: Random 15 Championship 2018/19: Round 1

That's true dedication to go back out there! I wouldn't have bothered. No difference between last place and disqualified. You weren't back at that point, so there was a chance I might not have come last! And whilst it doesn't make a difference to the result, I can still say I completed it...
