Re: Random 15 Championship 2019/20: Round 2

According to the TfL website, there is no District service between Earl's Court and East Ham (although of course Glos Rd and South Ken will be open on the Picc). There will be an increased District service between Earl's Court and Edgware Road. I'm slightly surprised that the HCL is terminating at B...

Re: Christmas Park Challenge 2019 - 14th December - Chiswick Park

I think for almost every starting point, Elm Park is likely the optimal finish, although others may disagree.... Except the two times we started from there  The first year I finished at Moor as was meeting a couple of other challengers for a curry following parking recee for our first full ne...

Re: Top Times: UK light rail

I think the Pontypool and Blaenavon and the Dean Forest both have branch lines (and both run under LROs). A number of other Heritage Railways have miniature/narrow gauge adjuncts - do these count? A Challenge to visit all the Great Little Trains of Wales stations would be an interesting one - but th...

Re: Zones 7-15

You can get a Z1-9 travelcard already, but I think if you buy it from an NR outlet then it has to be "issued from" Amersham to Z1-6 and the route shows zones 789. Which is OK if you're starting from within Zones 1-9, but not much help if you're coming on from outside and want a combined Travelcard!

Re: Another proposed attempt

The latest Central Line timetable on https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publicatio ... timetables was dated 2016 and shows the 0855 from Epping, so as far as I know there has been no official timetable change.

Welsh?
Yes, Welsh is the third most-used language in Wales.

Polish is second!

Re: Random 15 Championship 2019/20: Round 1

I think there's pros and cons both ways. On the pro side, it's nice and central and we have a good relationship with them. On the cons side, that back room's quite cramped for 20+ people, especially when playing darts (!) - it would be nice if more of us could sit down after a 4-6 hour Challenge - a...

Re: Another proposed attempt

I'm in a similar situation - I think I've found the optimal start and the optimal finish, but I'm 17 minutes too long in the middle (the most optimal Hainault Loop doesn't get me back to HSK in time for the Olympia train).

Re: Walk The Tube 2019

The challenge is to visit the stations on the network - therefore visiting a station by a different train counts provided it uses the Tube platforms (hence visiting Olympia on the Overground does NOT count!)

Re: Random 15 Championship 2019/20: Round 1

Running wasn't really necessary though (at least not for the river crossing) as a lot of the challengers crossed the river by bus.

Re: Random 15 Championship 2019/20: Round 1

What a daft twist. I made my own special protest on the way back by crossing the Thames 4 times by rail. I actually thought it was quite a nice twist. I've never used a boat on an R15 before, and I'm not aware of anyone else having done so previously so I may be the only person to have ever d...
