Re: Top Times: UK light rail

That was an impressive yet unexpected reaction - just think what I could have achieved if I had tried to do it deliberately! Thank you to xcooler123 for explaining, RJSRdg for amplifying, and apologies to michael_churchill and anyone else who was infuriated by my scurrilous implication that those wh...

Re: Top Times: UK light rail

It may be worth clarifying your definition of "light rail" - for example, the RH&DR was created under a pair of LROs in the 1920s under the 1896 Act et al, and the K&ESR and EKLR are both examples of "Colonel Stephens" railways created under the 1896 Act et al.

Re: Tube Challenge 1974

"I had intended running along the old Ongar section from about 3am" I know nothing about this specific area but, without wishing to be a killjoy, may I genuinely suggest that you consider the possibility of encountering dogs, shotguns, etc before behaving in such a suspicious manner at 3am in an iso...

Re: Iain's Tram Trials and Tribulations

Damn, you've overtaken me! I'm very concerned to see your use of a word like "pelted" - my "brisk strolls" definitely aren't in your league! Well done with the Church Street/Centrale move (perhaps inspired by Geoff's recent video?) - I haven't tried it yet. More significantly, I'm still trying to ge...

Re: London Reconnections 2018 Christmas Quiz

I certainly haven't submitted an entry yet, but I think 3/8/10/11 could be (comparatively) nice gentle ones, 7/13 could be time-consuming drudgery, 15 could be disproportionately annoying, 19 could be genuinely interesting (I am assuming a D....... or B......... connection) and 20 could turn out to ...

Status of London Overground at Richmond

Hi. Please would you all collectively provide clarity and consensus on the status of the Richmond LO platforms and the LO route between Richmond and Kew Gardens as far as our various challenges are concerned. Basically it's a series of yes/no scope questions. I am particularly interested in FNC, SLA...

Re: South of the River Challenge 27/10/2018

Immediate reactions: - I haven't checked what was closed today (er, yesterday) - Swanley to North Greenwich via Denmark Hill and Canada Water should only be just over an hour, not ninety minutes - for me, public transport via South Wimbledon seems to work well without too much exertion, so discardin...

Re: Stations remote from the places they serve

Penshurst Station (on the Tonbridge-Redhill line) is in the village of Chiddingstone Causeway and is about 1.9 miles from Penshurst village. I realise that this is a shorter distance than your example, but I just wanted to check whether somewhere like this would count since the nearby settlement has...
