Re: The Raven Alternative Challenge ideas

Ah, no! "London Ashford" is closer to France then London! Absolutely - and it's rather a long way from Ashford, let alone London! But, they call it London Ashford, so who am I to disagree. http://www.lydd-airport.co.uk/passenger-information/public-transport Disappointingly they don't include transp...

Re: The Raven Alternative Challenge ideas

Based on the IKEA challenge, how about something similar using the London airports: Heathrow Gatwick Luton Stansted Southend City Plus bonus points for additional challenges. Don't forget "London" Oxford Airport! https://www.oxfordairport.co.uk/ And London Biggin Hill. And "London" "Ashford" (Lydd).

Re: FNC at Home

As a couch potato (and a "fiftysomething who walks briskly" as I have mentioned previously), I'm tempted by the idea of virtual challenges, whether FNC or shorter. I'm not sure about the toilet, rucksack and shower aspects (which do sound like cabin fever setting in!), but use of a realtime tube app...

Re: DC's DC

Thanks tintin. I think you trigger really interesting thinking about our diverse individual goals and motivations. For me, achieving a top ten placing in any challenge is something that I am personally pretty proud of ... and, realistically, likely to be satisfied with. In that context, my very high...

Re: DC's DC

Where did those three years go? And how did all those people bump me so far down the list? Ah well, I'm delighted to be able to (doubtless-temporarily) resume a top-ten placing based on 2.06.23 on Friday 21 February 2020. Last time my route included the somewhat-eccentric Lewisham to Woolwich Arsena...

Re: Top Times - South London Challenge

I had a go at it today. ...but I was way off, and can't see how 1h45 is going to be beaten. Well, I certainly surprised myself by managing 1.51.07 back in 2016 with only brisk walking and despite a missed train. http://www.tubechallenge.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3364&p=100195#p100195 Even that ...

Re: Dastardly difficult trivia quiz

Great suggestions from tubeguru. Also, a glance at the Wikipedia entry https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackrod_railway_station talks about the weekend bus replacement service between 2015 and 2018 which may hint at a methodology issue that would skew towards only weekday traffic being reported.

Re: Dastardly difficult trivia quiz

"Which member of the "Gang of Four" did you have in mind?"

Shirley Williams at Crosby or David Owen in Plymouth were my main thoughts.

Would you class The Speaker as an independent for the purposes of this question?

Re: Dastardly difficult trivia quiz

Without checking, I'll guess at either a seat held by one of the Gang of Four, or Brighton Pavilion.

Re: Dastardly difficult trivia quiz

I'm intrigued by the use of the term circuit. I could understand something like grandstand, but circuit is surprising.

Re: Top Times: UK light rail

Thanks for clarifying - I assume that you are also excluding the hybrid combination of straight and loop traversed when travelling Hythe-Hythe via Britannia Points and Dungeness on the fortunately-aforementioned RH&DR :-)

Scalable Vector Graphics. And TfL rather than TFL :-)

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Anyway, apologies to tangy for distracting from the question that started this thread. Only tracktakid responded before I caused havoc.
