Re: Tube Challenge practice/prelude

Hi, looking at your bus connections, two tips I had last year was to avoid both the W12 and 142. You can jog from Leytonstone to Leytonstone High Road and get Overground either to W'stow Queens Road and jog to W'stow Central (best if some new footpath has finally opened there) or go on one stop furt...

Re: First attempt – first completion!

Congratulations Peter, I managed a completion at second attempt in May this year and in 12 minutes quicker than you! :D Old style Amersham start, Upminster finish. Like you, it was a previous plan I did find on the web and tweaked for the 2nd attempt, based on lessons learned from the first. I was a...

Re: Overnight at Chesham

There's the Chesham Bed & Breakfast in Stanley Ave, 5 min from station, but on two attempts I've not been able to book there for the one night. I have used Nita's Bed & Breakfast in Amersham. Get a taxi from there.

Re: FART 2014

I use the Long Island hotel rickmansworth. And travel up on the start train. Does the 'start train' you mention feature in the journey planner? That shows first train from Rickmansworth to Chesham at 0530, which would miss the first Chesham depart at 0515 but would make the next departure at 0557? ...

Re: A lazy Full Network Route

Hi, Also worth mentioning, on my route on Friday, when I arrived at Morden station I took a bus down to South Merton station, and then took the FCC train to Wimbledon from there. This connection can be a bit hit and miss as the train is only every 30 minutes, but it is a handy one if you can make i...

Re: Second tube challenge attempt

I'll add my congratulations as a fellow slow completer from 3 weeks ago. And I thought mine was slow when I logged it. Not sure of the 'OrangeOnes' lazy route. I used what I think is considered very old hat now with an Amersham start and Upminster finish. But I did manage a number of the traditional...

Re: My second attempt

Ok, answers to questions! My name is James Young. Time to nearest second is 19hr 37min 45sec. I caught the 19:40 from High Street Kensington, arriving Olympia at 19:48. I stopped at Embankment on the Circle line en route from Aldgate to High St Kensington. I hadn't realised about Bond St until the C...

My second attempt

I completed a full challenge, all 270 stations, at the second attempt last Friday, May 23rd in the stunningly slow time of 19hrs 38mins. An old route tweaked a bit starting at Amersham and finishing at Upminster. Could have been 10 minutes quicker as I detoured down the Jubilee to Bond St, not being...
