Re: First Ever Attempt - Thursday 13th April

Toilets on the Underground are universally disgusting, but I seem to remember W Ken and Rayners Lane being especially foul. Signage is often rather discreet. Be aware that LU locks its loos at 9pm! The toilets at Wimbledon are NR and therefore well kept but cost to get in! As regards eating and drin...

Re: The Entire LU Tube Map Challenge

I did include the trams. Out east was rather messy, though, and I think I've missed W Ken and Baron's Court! It was very much a first draft.

Re: The Entire LU Tube Map Challenge

Going back to the OP, I worked out a route for this last year and it came in at 34:06, albeit I didn't bother with Battersea Park. I'm now wondering what I missed out! Of course, the whole is slightly less than the sum of the parts because a) some bits overlap (eg Bakerloo/Overground) and b) you mix...

Re: Victoria Line timetabled to within 5 seconds!

I tell you what is a lot easier and that is reading the WTTs. No longer having to squint to see if that little black squiggle is a quarter a half or a three quarter (or blowing up the magnification so you get about three trains on your screen). Bring it on for the rest of the lines, I say!

Re: Kensington Olympia Shuttle Updated Question!

I notice there are two new early morning Olympias in the new (May 2016) WTTs:
06:37 and 07:15
Both to HSK.
Due to two extra trains being stabled at Lillie Bridge, I believe.

No change to evening trains.

Well done! A word of warning, though. However determined you are not to do it again, somehow the urge to improve your time is irresistable!

Re: The LAM Challenge

Phew! That's a helluva challenge! I'm starting to look at rhis myself, although it is likely to remain an armchair challenge and wouldn't in any case happen until next year. Presumably the overnight bits are still guesswork (or are there WTTs somewhere?) The exact timings could make a huge differenc...

Re: Night tube

I like the idea of a night tube challenge, but I don't think you could get round the whole network before daytime services resumed, so that would mean either using day services to finish off, or just seeing how many night stations you could do in the time. There are some extra 24 hour buses, includi...

Re: Naming of lines

The problem if you go for some sort of accurate name, it becomes too cumbersome and then it will probably be contracted into something incomprehensible anyway, viz Baker St & Waterloo becoming Bakerloo. A name is just a name. It's a way of identifying them, not accurately describing the route. You m...

Re: Second attempt 1st completion 26/5/15

I did follow the purist rules this time - 06:15 Olympia (delayed to 06:22). It's last time and (probably) next time I didn't.

Second attempt 1st completion 26/5/15

On Tuesday 26th May, I had what is becoming my annual Tube Challenge, relocated from August because of the Vicky closure. Although I'd been planning it for months, I only decided on the final route a couple of days before, because I'd had a few bursts of inspiration over the previous week. I had fou...

Thanks GKR. I thought it was something like that. Travelodge now booked.

Confused about closures

With an FNC not possible in August, I thought I'd try in Spring Half Term instead. I notice that there are various closures over the bank holiday weekend, notably the eastern end of the District, but I'm slightly confused: the list of closures (on the TfL site) shows this lasting until Monday, but t...
